    Black coral? What about Crimson?

I am thinking about a black and white, or a maroon (failing my ability to get a black and white) clown, probably some of the black and white legged hermits, a red star or two... I'm not quite sure yet- depends on what I end up doing with the whole thing.

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

I am also planning a "normal" tank, for what it's worth. We'll see what happens.

    A few random questions

hrm, I'll have to keep that in mind and keep an eye on the little guy if I go that route.

    A few random questions

Hrm... interesting... is it possible to buy coralline algaes?

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

Hrm... perhaps... but you know me- stubborn as all get-out. I'm tempted by the idea of black sponges, the black corals that I found the photo of, maroon corallite algae... must...try...*twitch*

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

I agree- I think they look very fake as well. I'm willing to take the extra time and make the extra effort to see if I can do this. If I can I think it will be quite stunning. If not, then I'll do something else with it.

    A few random questions

Would the urchin not cause problems with corals and such? I've been looking around- seems most of the tuxedo urchins are black and blue... I could deal with that I think.

    A few random questions

I really like the domino spotted damselfish, and I was bemoaning the non-reef safe status of some lovely black and white sea slugs that I've found. I have thought about false corals and such, I would far prefer to have the real thing. I googled a bit and found that there is maroon coralline...

    A few random questions

Heh, hopefully it's a welcome challenge! I was trying to think of what to do about the coralline algae- I can probably keep up with it on the glass and apparatus, but the rock does pose an odd problem. I thought about getting some sort of red sponge to allow to grow on the rocks, and a few...

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

    really? where?

    A few random questions

Ok, a few random questions which don't really fit together, but eh. 1. Sea slugs- they can't be kept in reef tanks correct? (pity- there are some sexy black and white ones out there) 2. What aneomones do clowns prefer? Particularly black and white Percula clowns. 3. Live rock- it's kinda a...

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

hrm... are sponges something you can frag? If so, and I get this tank up and cycled soon, or at the very least find someone willing to house it for me for a while, I might be interested in some of that black sponge. edited to add: I just googled the black tubastrea, WOW! That is exactly what...

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

Hrm. Soo... would that mean that there IS a way to have "black" coral, albeit via algae, or no? Why is it the colors that I actualyl like don't exist in nature?

    Black coral? What about Crimson?

Are there any corals that are black in color? What about crimson? I've done a bit of googling, but everything I find about black coral is either jewelry or looks yellow.

Planning a nano-reef, long time aquarist, first time with marine

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I am just in the planning stages for this tank- and I am going to choose my equipment based upon my stocking choices. The 20 is a standard 30x12x12, and the 30 is a long 30x18x12

Planning a nano-reef, long time aquarist, first time with marine

Do you know if there are any crimson, or better yet- black anemones? Particularly ones that will host clowns? I'm thinking of getting one of the black and white clowns, and having either a snowy white, black, or crimson anemone for him would be great.

Planning a nano-reef, long time aquarist, first time with marine

I'm planning a nano-reef at the moment, as is my boyfriend. My nano will likely be either a 7 or 20 gallon tank. My boyfriends being either 20 or 30 gallons. We have a few spare tanks, as you can tell, and are trying to decide which will be breeding tanks for our freshwater fish, and which we...
