I'm planning a nano-reef at the moment, as is my boyfriend. My nano will likely be either a 7 or 20 gallon tank. My boyfriends being either 20 or 30 gallons. We have a few spare tanks, as you can tell, and are trying to decide which will be breeding tanks for our freshwater fish, and which we will use to have our first marine tanks.

I would like to try and plan my tank with a color scheme in mind- particularly one that will match with my interior decor/color preferances.

I'd like to make a black, white, gray, and crimson tank, if at all possible. What do you think? Would I realistically be able to create a nano-reef tank housing mainly (preferably ONLY) black, white, gray, and crimson inhabitants? What would you suggest?

Also, thanks to Llarian for pointing this site out to me- just what I needed, more forums.

WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!!!

I suppose it's possible. I would suspect that you could get a fish book and look at all of the pictures to find all of the fish that are black, white, gray, or crimson. A cardinal fish comes to mind.

Do you know if there are any crimson, or better yet- black anemones? Particularly ones that will host clowns? I'm thinking of getting one of the black and white clowns, and having either a snowy white, black, or crimson anemone for him would be great.

Welcome to Reef Frontiers!

I think before any recommendations are made on inhabitants, it would be a good idea to list what your equipment scheme is. That way you will know if the inhabitants you choose can survive and thrive. I'm not sure if there is an anemone that is crimson, but there is the rose BTA. Also, anemones should really be put into an established tank, as they are sensitive to parameter swings.

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

I am just in the planning stages for this tank- and I am going to choose my equipment based upon my stocking choices.

The 20 is a standard 30x12x12, and the 30 is a long 30x18x12
