Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Just to get in one last appeal: I have never heard from anyone that high speeds are recommended. High speeds cause excess heat that can crack the glass, shortens the life of the drill bit, and since you are grinding, does nothing to speed up the process. I have drilled lots and lots of holes. I...

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

I've drilled so many holes I can't count them. A drill press is nice, but sometimes impractical. You can cover the area with masking tape before drilling. That will keep you bit still until its started. Once its started its just a matter of applying light pressure and slow speed until the bit...

    New Tank- 150gal setup help!

Views differ, these are mine: 1. Spray bars just restrict your flow and cause microbubbles if placed on the surface. The one application I like them for is the lower back corner of the tank to blow debris out from under the rocks in a bare bottom appliction. Other than that, I don't like em...

It doesn't have raised coralites like an acro and has the look and consistency of a cattail. Its just a 3 inch frag. Mike

    New Tank- 150gal setup help!

Good followup Buckwheat. It isn't that a copperband won't eat anything else. It just might not eat anything else in your tank. Success is hit or miss with mostly misses. Re-reading my post it seemed kinda harsh, I meant to steer you away from problems that alot of us have just starting out...

    New Tank- 150gal setup help!

Bag the plenum. No one uses them anymore. They suck. If the copperband runs out of aptasia it will probably die. Long tentacle plates are difficult. We'll let the Achilles go, you already know, goodluck. As far as acclimating. That's not the problem. The problems are that the Tang has very...

    More Frag Pictures!

I have Aqualine DE 10,000K 250 watt bulbs on a Aqua Medic Ocean Light T5/Metal Halide Combo. They came with the fixture. I had one burn out recently and I've had such great color development with them, I bought the same ones to replace. This coral was tan with pink tips when I got it: Mike

    More Frag Pictures!

Here's a better shot of the coral on the left when it arrived. Not too exciting but I really like the blue tips forming on it.

    More Frag Pictures!

This one is more bumpy. Its an A. Yongii. They called it a yellow slimer, but its a green slimer. Why do people sell bleached corals as some kind of rare breed. Jeesh! Mike

    More Frag Pictures!

Okay I'm bored. Here is some more before and after picture of frags I got on the 21st of August. When they arrived: 3 weeks later under 10K metal halides: I mounted them on their sides because I was told they would encrust faster and branch more. We will see. Mike

    the day will soon come

The Lion will be a foot and a half long in a year and will eat anything that will fit in his mouth which is anything about half his size.

    the day will soon come

The fish list is for a 200 gallon or greater tank. The Eel or the lion is going to eat your damsel. The eel is probably going to eat the snails and the crabs. Then the lion is probably going to eat the eel.
