    Chad's 125g reef project

I dont really have many corals to get pumped about but here is that same Birdsnest I got from Dang after just a month. Above you'll fine pics from when I got it and at about 2 weeks. This thing should be pretty big when it hits the 1 year mark. Cant wait to have some good size corals.

    Metal Halide Ballast Decisions

I have two ARO 250W ballasts on my 125. They make no noise, they fire my Reeflux 14ks at an identical rate. So when my lights turn on everything is even. Never used another brand since this is my first tank set-up but they work great for me.

What's the order: sump, fuge, skim...skim, fuge sump

They would have to share a common tank or you will have problems. If they share a common tank then the overflow is driven by the return pump. Meaning water entering your tank overflows at the same rate it enters so you have a balance. If you use separate tanks for your sump and fuge it would...

What's the order: sump, fuge, skim...skim, fuge sump

From what I understand through all the reading I have done on here and whatever links people provide (usually Melev's Reef when dealing with DIY sump/fuge) while the more nutrient rich water will help things in the fuge grow your other filtration will consume pods, etc. I would assume sending...

What's the order: sump, fuge, skim...skim, fuge sump

I am working on changing out my current 30g sump for a 25&29g sump/fuge. I am going this same exact order. Provides cleaner water to the fuge and allows pods to make it to the tank without going through a skimmer or whatever media reactor you may have.

    Chad's 125g reef project

Some Updates So things have been going good. I am working on changing out my 30g sump for a 25g & 29g sump/refugium set-up. I also have some corals I got via trade from Dang and some stuff Steven gave me. Here are a few pics of some things that would turn out. My camera sucks at getting...

    dory fish is dead

I have a ton of bristle worms that come out at night. They dont harm anything, just clean up the dead fish. You said you popped one with your finger? Brave....everytime i accidentally touch one moving live rock my finger swells up until i get the spines out.

    shift my sand please

I have a Mural Sifter Goby in my 125. I got him for the same reason you are looking for one. Very interesting fish. Sometimes he will take a mouth full of sand and sprinkle it around the tank. He doesn't make any piles, just digs out around rocks. He has his den so he really doesn't worry...

    Beating the Heat! Hot Subject!

I use the 1/3 hp Prime Tower chiller on my 125. Works like a charm...no matter what temperature it is outside, inside, wherever my tank stays at about 77.4 day and night.

    Red Slime? (picture attached)

I had Cyano really bad in my tank with perfect water, and 3100gph flow in my 125....in the end it was my lights. (You say that you have had your tank for 10 months so new lights should be on your list soon.) If your water tests out perfect then look to flow and lights. If your water isn't...

    Question about coralife membranes

I am happy with the RO/DI unit I got from http://www.thefilterguys.biz and it uses the 75 gpd Filmtec membrane. Maybe a good place to get your replacement filters/membranes from.

    is red film algae bad?

What is your water quality? If you have 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 0 Nitrate then I would look to your lights to solve the problem. I had some really bad Cyano that was mistaken for something else....none the less in the end what was feeding the Algae was nothing other than some Halides that...

Successful Crab trap and critter ID request

I had a crab issue with my 125. Honestly the easiest way to get them out is to yank out the rock it is on when you see it. The crabs in my tank would only be out at night and I wasn't about to pull out all 110 lbs or so.....so I kept looking at night. Once they were on a top rock i would yank...

    Check this out!

When I first seen him I did some looking around and stumbled across the ribbon worm. Thats what gave me the bravery to just grab the thing out wearing gloves instead of trying tongs again. Guess that answers that. None the less I'm glad the thing isn't in my tank anymore.

    Check this out!

Since photobucket wont like images of the resolution i have for these here are a few more pics that have been cropped. This is the one next to the measuring tape. Its not inline with the tape and i have the thing wrapped around my fingers. In the pictures comes in just under 4 feet. If not...

    Check this out!

Yeah, I seen that one. My buddy Steven (steven11) kept saying it was something like that to mess with me. Overall this worm looks pretty helpless. Doesn't appear to have any legs, spines, etc. Just a 4 foot long regular looking worm. I have these pictures in higher resolution. But nothing...

    Check this out!

I'm just glad it no longer inhabits my tank. Hopefully it didn't bring friends. Now I am down to 1 known hitchhiker living in my tank.

    Check this out!

So a few months back I just got done rock scaping when that night I noticed a worm in my tank. Looking around online I wasn't sure exactly what it was. I tried grabbing it with tongs but no luck, it got away. I also had 1 known hitchhiker crab still living in my tank. So last night after...
