    Paly colony closing up shop

A possibility could a fungal/bacterial infection. Not much seems to help when you get hit with that but to frag some healthy polyps away from the infection and hope for the best. Discarding the diseased polyps might be advisable to help insure it doesn't jump colonies but who can really say for...

    Salt switching question

I thought I read somewhere the IO is also a little low on magnesium.

    elegance (elegant) coral experience?

I know that most people's recent experience with elegance corals does not have a happy ending. But I was wondering what the experience of people here on RF has been with this coral. I myself am currently 0 for 1. Got one a couple months ago which did great for 2 months. Then it started bloating...

    Gorgonian help needed

I had a purple seawhip gorg. a while back and it would shed every once in a while. But it was a thin layer of the skin that would peel off and looked visibility different than if it was falling apart. I would just keep wiping off the cyno as soon as it appears and hope for the best.

Last lighting question - I promise

I doubt it will make a difference in what you can keep. I read somewhere the PAR on the 24" Tek is roughly the same more or less as a 150 HQI. So between the two, I'd look to make a decision based such as (among other things) on whether I want the shimmer of the MH or total tank coverage look...

    stand vs tank

I did that for my 75 acrylic when the metal stand I had for it was missing the entire middle support. I cut some kind of sturdy looking 2x4's and placed them front to back in the stand and it worked great.

    stand vs tank

You could get a 1" wood board and cut it to fit/support the tank.

    Cwazy 40 Gallon Project@@

Over a 40 gallon, you might want to have 2 x 250w lights. I tried a singe DE over my 40 and the ends of the tank were dim. Over a 30g though a single bulb would work nicely. I tried a maxi 1200 as a return on a 30g once and it worked just fine.

Got a Question for all you

The exchange rate seemed pretty even last time I went there in Jan. So things aren't necessarily cheaper there like it used to be. I paid with my debit card and although they added the tax at the stores, it was taken out when I checked my charges later on. I have heard that they will...

A little reading: Blue Coral Method

Wow, that is great growth. Did you notice an improvement in color in addition to that pretty impressive growth? Its hard to tell from the pic cause the change in bulbs...reeflux can make blues look kinda funny sometimes. Also noticed the growth on the frag to the right of the tort.

    Doseing calcium chloride

If you're wondering how much to dose, you can use the link to calcuate how much you need calcium chloride. Of course you need to test before and after to make sure you get the levels you want. http://jdieck1.home.comcast.net/chemcalc.html

    Reef Mystique = great

He does have high end stuff but most of the corals there are reasonably priced imo. Its a business so its going to be priced higher than an individual selling out of his tank, but 45-55 for a good portion of the corals is not too bad.

What kind of anemone is it? At least it has a fighting chance in your tank.

    seriously- will this die off?

Water changed never really did much to lower my nitrates. It'd go down and then creep back up. Maybe a DSB would help?
