Anyone ever seen one of these available??

I would say some type of bristletooth tang. They have all kinds of color variations.

    No PE on SPS corals

montipora digitata might be one to look at for you.

    No PE on SPS corals

You might want to change your phos media fairly soon. At first when your phosphates are high, it gets filled up, saturated, in a short time. A fresh batch would help and then will run longer until it needs changeing. Since phos test kits are not the most reliable and dont detect some types of...

Anybody ever bought from these guys?

I got one very similar a few years back from ebay seller filtersdirect. Dont know if its the same seller with a different name. They were located in Costa Mesa,Ca I think. Its a good unit and I have had no problems with it.

    SPS in nano, update w/pics

I would go with the 150watt. It will take that and both acros up pretty high to retain the color. Remember to slowly acclimate your tank with the new light, or you will fry everthing. Its not so much the light as the initial shock to the improved intensity.

True Power Compact full tank shots, PLEASE NO t-5 OR mh.

I ran 440watts VHO for over two years and had great success. When I started adding higher end SPS they did not retain color so I did add MH and they are brilliant. Nothing wrong with Powercompact or even VHO, just can limit you on some corals you might want to have.

    mh lighting problem

DE MH bulbs if on for even a short time get hot. If turned off they need to cool way down before they will fire up again, depending on the ambient temperature and how closed up the fixture is, it can even take 15-20 minutes. Sounds like that was your problem. With the T5 acitinic, when its time...

    mh lighting problem

What kind of fixture is it? Alot of times a bulb coming on for just a very short time and going out indicates a bad bulb or an older bulb going bad. I got an off market clip on fixture awhile back that did that after two days. I replaced the bulb with a quality bulb and it has been running like...

    Cyano and a denitrifier or?

I would also say maybe lights and what about phosphate? You dont mention any means of phosphate removal except for skimming.

Rena Xp4 cleaning? (how often on 100 GAL)

How long has this tank been set up?

    Cyano and a denitrifier or?

It does not deplete calcium. The ph in a denitrifier is not as low as a calcium reactor on a general basis. So the disolved amount of calcium is not as high as with a CA reactor. It does put out a small amount but if you have even a few corals with a need for calcium, the amount it puts out will...

    Cyano and a denitrifier or?

Yes, denitrifiers will lower your ph so that is not your problem. Also they do not affect alkalinity. If your kit is API than your alkalinity is very low at six drops. Denitrifiers use Ca media to buffer up the ph of the effluent and in turn add a bit of calcium but not enough to really make a...

    No PE on SPS corals

The good part about RTN: It is pretty apparent that you have it and is recognized easily. The bad part: It comes on quick and will take the coral out in only a day or two ( unless its a huge piece) So it sounds like you dont have RTN or your coral would be skeleton by now. Most times RTN...

    No PE on SPS corals

I concur also, flakes are a bit "dirty" compared to other foods. I use a very small bit every couple of weeks just because I like to feed some of everything for the best shot to give the fish all they may need. While your nitrate is at 5ppm thats not really bad at all. Yes we all strive for...

    hydrogen sulfide???

No doubt hydrogen sulfide. That is the danger of a deep sand bed, if it gets stirred up your in trouble. A friend had a deep sand bed and at night a powerhead fell off the tank wall and onto the sand. He woke up the next morning to a horendous stench and a very dead tank.

    Purigen. What micron size bag?

That is the same material there "The Bag" is made of.

    Test Kits Comparison

With Lamotte you match the color on the card, purple. From the initial change it is usually one or two drops, and one or two more after those will go beyond to the red color. You will get the hang of it after a few tests. One line (about a drop) is 4ppm so really not that much of a dkh change in...

    Thefilterguys carbon, what micron bag?

    Yes, correct.

thinking about fraging these but need help

Be careful fragging Zoo's. Not for the corals sake but for you own health/lifes sake.

    Thefilterguys carbon, what micron bag?

I have an 800 and its too large. Was hoping someone who used this carbon could tell me as I dont want to go smaller than need be as the smaller micron will tend to plug up faster IMO. After two days no real use answers so I am going to buy a few and test it.
