    Tangs and their diet

Well I'll be joining you out there pretty soon. My husband and I are moving there in June, but I won't be talking redneck for real because I don't have an accent despite living here my whole life.

Trip to the LFS this weekend

Those look great to me. I can't seem to get that good of coloration, though now I have the XMs and things are coloring up nicely.

atleast you don't say "fit'na." I'm fit'na go do this and fit'na go do that. Man it kills me every time someone says that.

    Tangs and their diet

I think it's common for them to accept meaty stuff occasionally. My Naso doesn't much care for meaty foods. She's all about the algae and sh*t tons of it. (I'm from TN you have to let me talk a little bit redneck.)

    Lets See Your Favorite Fish

I have a Naso who also stays up at all hours of the night and she is the fattest pig of a fish I have ever seen. She is my favorite because when I got her she wouldn't eat and she wasted away becoming very thin and I searched and searched the forums to find out what to do. Finally after trying...

What is the single most important thing you would tell a new reef keeper!

Water changes for sure. I believe that it is the single best way to keep your tank healthy. Ok I can't resist another one: never ever EVER impulse buy a fish or coral at a LFS. Always research it before purchase. Imagine how many animals could be saved if this were done by each new reefer...

    Serpant star acropora friendly?

Mine (green serpent) hasn't bothered any other coral except for two types of xenia. But let me tell you, it eats the heck out of those. I can't keep any of it in the tank, which I don't consider a bad thing! hah hah

    Duuuuuhhhhh

I did the same thing. My siphon was in the tank, siphoning out water and for some reason I thought it was a good idea to crane my head around the tank and try to watch 'Charmed'. We I look over and bunch of my bubble coral is sucked up into the siphon and deflated. It freaked me out so bad that...

    stinging hydroids????

Hey so I have alot of personal experience with these stinging hydroids. They are on quite a few rocks in my tank. I would definately try to pull them out if you only have them on a couple of rocks. You just have to be sure to get the whole tube/worm. I am gonna try Joe's juice pretty soon and...

    Please view ASAP!!

I made my own dripper out of a gallon apple cider container, airline, and one of those valves. It worked great. AND I put the hole up about an inch off the bottom so that any white precipitate that settles on the bottom won't be sucked out of the bottle.

    Please view ASAP!!

I don't think we need anyone else to tell him it was a mistake. For the most part we agree that Kalk should be dripped or atleast only small amounts poured in at one time. What I want to know (and I'm sure a bunch of you do too) is how everything it going. I am dying to know if everything is...

    What type of Chiller?

I have an in-line Aqualogic chiller 1/3 HP on my 135g and it is so awesome. It sits right near the living room couch and is very quiet. You might notice it come on every once in a while, but for the most part when it turns on, you don't notice it at all.

    N limitation vs P limitation

Well, honestly in our tanks I think that most of the nutrients are in high enough abundance as to NOT be limiting ever. I mean if we had that little nutrients, how would our corals grow? The zooxanthellae in them need some nutrients, right? So I don't know that this article is really all that...

    Moving to Seattle

Oh man. That sucks so bad. Really sorry to hear it.

    Oceanic Salt...

That's really true about the higher Ca and Mg. I actually do use it for nutrient replacement (and to remove all of Priscilla's poop, which is the big Naso I have). Do a group buy for whatever salt your group likes, because that's one of the best things about belonging to a club, that and all...

    N limitation vs P limitation

It's pretty interesting that they are talking about N and P but only a slight mention about Fe. So there is a theory of co-limitation by N and P, which if I am not mistaken (and I could be) goes like this: enzymes which are necessary to utilize P contain N. If the organism can not make the...

    Oceanic Salt...

If you have a reef club there you might consider doing a group buy on the salt so that you get it even cheaper. We did this in our club and got Kent salt for $36/200g bucket, with free shipping. I think everyone is really satisfied because there is talk of getting another pallet (36 buckets). We...
