Hi folks,

I believe that I know some of you from both RC and Canreef. I'm looking forward to joining the society once settle in Seattle. Having one of only two tanks in our small town, we make an awfully intimate club!

On that note, I will be moving my wife to Redmond on Sept 30th, with my joining her later in October (I am still living in Whistler). I was wondering if there would be any potential foster homes (preferably close to Redmond) for some stock should we have any difficulties quickly setting up our system after the move. I don't expect to have any problems but it's nice to have a plan "c".

Of note are:
2xfalse percs
1 bi-colou blennie
1 spotted goby
1 flame hawk

Trumpet (roughly 4" in diameter)
sun coral
4" Derasa
Pagoda (roughly 5" in diameter)
Green open brain (4.5")
2 BTA's (5"& 4")

As mentioned, I doubt that this will be necessary, but please feel free to pm me should you be able to offer a home for a couple of days.

Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Rob

I'm not close to Redmond but I just wanted to say "Welcome!" We have a few members up that way, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out if needed. The club has some great meetings lined up so I hope we'll be seeing you soon. :)

Thanks Alice!

I should be in Seattle full time mid-end of October, hopefully I won't miss any meetings. I see from another thread that I just missed the AGM.

Best,

Rob

Hello again,

Firstly thank you to those that offered foster care for our fishy friends!

We moved this past week from Whistler to Seattle, took the time and care to bag each fish and coral, heat packs, etc. This has been our third move with never a fatality, including the move from California to Whistler.

Sadly, for some reason every single coral and fish perished this time around (roughly 24 hour turn around). I believe it was due to our inability to stabilize temperature while re-setting the tank. We had brought roughly 30 gallons of water, but had problems setting up the RO/DI machine. Couple that with not being able to find a hotel on Wednesday evening meant that the fish and packaging were in the car for 12 hours. While the fish were still alive at 9:00am, I placed all stock in their packaging in the tub with warm water until the tank was set, but they did not make it.

This has been our first disaster ever, and we're extremely sad to have lost everything, especially "Sid & Nancy", our mated false percs who have been with us through thick and thin for over 3 years. RIP Sid and Nancy!

We have now started a new cycle in the tank, with the hope to start re-stocking an SPS dominant tank when I join my wife in three weeks or so.

See you all at the November meeting!

Rob

Thanks folks, I appreciate the kind words! Mostly we feel like turkeys for letting this happen. As some say, "It's easy to be smart later", we were contemplating selling off everything to good homes in Vancouver but could not bear the thought of leaving our fish and corals behind, instead we sent them to a home in the sky!

Thanks again, and see you in November.

Rob
