    Questions for all

If you get the goby shrimp combo I would definately go with a randall's shrimp not a tiger. A randall's is alot neater looking and stays a TON smaller. The smaller shrimp would surely tolerate a smaller digging area alot better. The only problem with this is that Randalls shrimp *like* to pair...

    PACNW Algae Bloom

Vera Trainer is the person who I might go work for at NOAA, which is the reason I have a said a couple of times that I might be moving out you guys' way. That's pretty exciting to see her name in the paper.

Clown gobies and sps don't mix well

I have had no problems with the three I have harming my SPS. I suppose it's a risk that you take when you purchase these fish, but to equate them with red bugs is a bit on the overly negative side.

Fish of the Week ~Ecsenius sp.~

http://www.easttnreefclub.com/images/mel-4.jpg That's a picture of my recently deceased (last month) bicolor blenny. I loved that fish so much. He never nipped at corals, got along famously with atleast 6 different species of gobies, and never jumped out of my very open-topped 135g aquarium. He...

yellow clown goby vs citron goby

I have had no problems. I do have some experience with these fish and recognize the risks. Thanks for the warning though!

Thanks. I looked around a ton and didn't see that article.

yellow clown goby vs citron goby

Hello Terry, I would like to know if you can clear up my confusion as to which of these gobies is which? The citron goby gets black as an adult, correct? But as juveniles, they seem to look very similar. I have noticed two different fish that are both called one or the other of these names...

    Aggression from my Watchman

Thanks. But like I said, the watchman is only with the shrimp for about half the time. He will stay with the shrimp for a couple of months, then leave, then come back for another couple of months. It's not the most ideal situation.

    Aggression from my Watchman

Yeah I like my yellow watchman. He's pretty cool but he's horrible about staying with my shrimp. I have a randall's pistol shrimp and this isn't a very natural pairing. I need to get one of those Yasha Hashe gobies, but they are so expensive that it's not something I want to do at the moment. I...

    Aggression from my Watchman

A pair of which ones? There are so many really cool ones.

    Rapid Tissue Nicrossis?

Actually, I don't think it's that uncommon for a melting sps to not affect other sps in the tank if you have really good flow or if that frag is pretty isolated. The problem to me would be if another sps was downstream of that one and it got some of the slimy stuff on it. Then it would maybe...

    Name the Kitty

I've always liked the name Akiva. I am gonna name a dog that when I am finally able to get one. I know a guy who has the name so I know it can be used for males or females. But don't worry, no one ever likes it but me! hah hah

If my husband and I move there it would definately be to Seattle because I would be working for NOAA (MAYBE).

    Still new to the website

I am in TN, and we have a small club, I was just wondering how big yours was since I might be moving to the area. I'm not judging you based on the size, though having a club with that many members probably has some benefits. I was just curious about how many "regulars" you have who go to...

How many people are in you guys' club? Or I guess the better question would be how many people go to your meetings?

Can I keep shallow tank with MH only?

Wrassehole, that's one of the funniest names I have ever seen.

Can I keep shallow tank with MH only?

Thanks Wit. I am used to getting bashed on a reef central if I express any opinion at all.

Can I keep shallow tank with MH only?

I have had great long term success (a few years) with just MH, no PC or VHO. I think you could keep a shallower tank with MH's but you would definately need to think about protecting the corals as you first add them or as you first add the lights. You can do things like put a few layers of...

    Lets see those Zoos

Hey Beeba, that "zoo" looks more like a Palythoa polyp to me. I can't tell exactly from the picture, but that's what it kinda looks like.
