    Tank support

My floors are uneven. What's the best way to level the tank? Put shims under the stand? Put styrofoam under the tank? Both? Neither? Does it matter on a tank as small as mine? (7 gallons)

    Electrical outlets

Some of the outlets in the bedrooms are two-pronged, and some three... I have my computer on the three-pronged one. I'm also going to get a real electician to look at it, there's no need for me to risk my life lol.

    RO unit coming, need advice

Ok guys, I finally broke down and bought a RO unit from Aquatic Reef Systems. (For less than my bugeted $150, yay!) It's due here on Thursday. I'm going to use a faucet adaptor and hook it up to a sink. The Hannah TDS meter reads 46 for my water... since I have a 7g nano and don't plan on using...

    Electrical outlets

Yeh, I think it'll be best all around to have an electrician check the wiring of the house anyway. I don't think it's ever been done since we've moved in.

    Electrical outlets

We have a fusebox on the main floor and circuit breakers in the basement... One time they tripped and my dad switched out all the fuses but we still didn't get power back. We finally had ConEd come over and the guy turned on the breakers in the basement... which we didn't even know we had! So...

    Electrical outlets

I don't understand the terms you used. Is there a website I can look at with diagrams and step-by-step instructions? Also, my dad was trying to change a light switch the other day and I heard a "Pop!" before we lost the electricity to half the house. He had to fiddle with the fuses to get the...

    Electrical outlets

If the outlet isn't grounded, then will the GFCI work? My dad says our house is 40-50 years old. We live in New York City. We should be grounded, right?

    Electrical outlets

How hard is it to convert a non-grounded outlet into a grounded outlet?

    Dark and lit fuge

I just realized that with an AC300 and an ACMini w/IceProbe on my tank, I can have two fuges, one lit and the other dark. Does anyone else have something like this? How well would the Mini fuge work with the IceProbe bringing down the temp? I'll have the heater in the lit fuge, too; will that...

    RO excess water usage

Good idea, thanks. Maybe it's because the wastewater has such concentrated levels of impurities that it registers that high?

    RO excess water usage

Can the water that's been filtered out of a RO unit be used for freshwater tanks? Or are the impurities so concentrated that it would kill the FW fish? How about mixing the excess water with tap water? Or how about using the excess water on hardwater species, like African Rift Lake cichlids?

    Auto top-off. A lifesaver, literally.

    Overdriving PCs?

KA-BOOM! Ok, no craziness for me.

    Overdriving PCs?

:P Unfortunately, I don't have spare parts lying around and I don't want to buy them to experiment with. Why pay for the chance to burn down my house? LOL

    Minibow light

What if I crammed another 32 in there?

    Better bulbs?

Which is better? Hellolights 50/50 or Current's SmartPaq?

    Overdriving PCs?

I've read on the Hellolights website that it's the ballast that determines how bright the light from the bulb is. So... can I hook up a 96w ballast to a, say, 32w bulb for more light in a smaller space? Or will I just end up with glass shards all over and an electrical fire in my house?

    Minibow light

    Okay, thank you.

    Minibow light

Is the 32w retrofit on a minibow 7 considered low, medium, or high intensity?

    Alternative to suction cups?

Yup! I just bought a Dremel today, so it's DIY time!
