Got any ideas what this is on my porcupine puffer?

Any suggestions on increased waste management? It's 180g with a 45g sump (only about 25g of water in it). I use an AquaC EV180 skimmer with Mag 7 pump. I have 225 pounds of LR or more. I use an Iwaki 100 for sump return and a Via Aqua powerhead, so movement is not an issue. Porky's appetite...

Got any ideas what this is on my porcupine puffer?

THanks Steve. I don't usually move the rocks, but I have once or twice to increase water circulation throughout the tank. I've gotten nitrates down to this level from a prior 80ish. With my dip strip test, they measure around 40. With my SeaTest kit, they measure about 15ppm. So bigger...

Got any ideas what this is on my porcupine puffer?

Here's a link to an awesome picture of what I am about to describe. http://www.plecos.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=47&pos=57 My porcupine puffer is about 6" long and I've had him for over a year. Every time I move a rock or mess with the sandbed, he gets these little white spots on his...

    anemone

    anemone

My research shows that ocellaris (false percs) naturally host in Ritteri and Carpet anemones. Personally, I've also seen them in E. quadricolor (bubble tips). Sometimes and especially tank raised ocellaris, take forever to find the anemone. Sometimes, they never do. I have seen tank raised...

    anemone

Gabriela What kind of clowns do you have? Also, doesnt look like an LTA to me, because they usually (caveat) don't attach to rocks. I can't really tell from the picture, are the foot and the head the same color? --jenny

    anemone

If it hadn't moved until you added new powerheads, that is likely the culprit. Doesn't mean he won't come out again. Also, they will hide before splitting. If your lights aren't on timers and you alter the photoperiod any, they will move. Like Krish said, they do have their own...

    AquaC EV120

I have an AquaC EV 180. I've had it for about a year now. They do work pretty well. I have it on a 180g FOWLR and I feed heavily. The air intake elbow gets clogged pretty regularly with salt creep. I have mine in sump and would not recommend putting it hang-on, but in-line would be fine...

    compatibility...?

How big is the tank? I had a LMB that recently died from old age, but he was my favorite fish in that tank. He was in with 8 diffferent species of gobies and never bothered them. Again, there are always exceptions. --jenny

    Anyone ordered from here? (MagPumps)

This is one I have not used, but I agree. You should feel confident with the feedback rating at that high of number of transactions. They also have a return policy, so I say 'fo for it'

Anemone suggestions for a maroon clown

Awesome reading list, thanks. I am thinking about a colored LTA in that it usually stays where you put it since I am adding this to an established reef. Anyone know how 'sad' clowns get if they need a new anemone? For example, if I take my percula away from his BTA and give him an LTA?

Anemone suggestions for a maroon clown

I am looking for suggestions. I have a 70g flatback corner bow with 150 watt halide and 130 watts of pcs. I have had a green bubble tip in there for two years and all is well. That anemone and perc are going to a new home. A friend of mine gave me a 2" gold stripe maroon. Looking for an...

Getting a volitans to eat after surgery

After moving the lion back to his home in the 180, his eye is perfectly clear. He is swimming throught the entire tank and is once again the respected leader of the community. He has a favorite cave and he went right back to it. He has no external sores, lesions, bloating, abcesses. I have...

Getting a volitans to eat after surgery

I had to remove him from the QT bc it's only 29g which stressed him enough, then the antibiotics killed my before-unkown population of bristleworms raising the ammonia to levels I couldn't control by water changes. He was trying to jump out bc the ammonia was burning his gills. His coloring is...

Getting a volitans to eat after surgery

The crab leg did come out clean. And no bleeding. I tried putting him in QT, but he just stressed way too much. I've put him back in the 180g two days ago. I just fed the tank and he looked at the food, but still no interest.

Getting a volitans to eat after surgery

OK, it really wasn't surgery, but it sure seemed like it! Last Wed. my 8 inch Volitans lionfish swallowed a 7 inch crab leg from the grocery store. After some frantic phone calls to uberfugu and the Seattle Aquarium, Barbie and I netted him and got the crab leg out with pliers. That was not...
