    Mandarin Goby Died

Bummer! Cold water usually won't revive a fish that is "dry as a block of wood" (lol) and then Krish says "jumpers suck!" and I had a vision of him trying to jump start the fish with jumper cables~ :bolt: This is why I never name fish. too personal when you name them. At least he was a...

Poll: What is the longest time frame you have had a single fish live for?

Good poll Krish! I had freshwater fish that lived over ten years. My first saltwater fish after moving from NY was a yellowtailed damsel I bought 8 years ago and Rhodes19 has now in his system. Im told all my corals in NY are still in the display tank I left them in along with a Jewl Tang I put...

time to build a new tank, suggestions welcome

Do the cube. The other way is to narrow Sas. As for hight, i agree 12" may be a bit to shallow. Think 15-18? One of my biggest challenges with my current build is the 12" depth. 2" more is what i wish i had. But when i built the tank i had no idea i would one day go mad scientist on it. With a...

The beast is dead!! long live the Newer Beast??

Your gonna see some good results from the added surface area for bacteria Mike. As long as you can kee pthe sand down with that closed loop that is. I kept about that same amount and had good sucess with the shallow sand bed. Also now you will have the ability to keep sand dwelling creatures.

    DIY Duel Chamber Calcium Reactor

That rocks Mike! Ill have to mod my bubble counter to accomidate that diffuser. Great idea. Not much bubbles so the co2 must really be going into sollution. I really dig the stacked plates also. Never thought of that before. Mine i just did the bubble plate thing with the counter sunk holes...

    Love of the hobby

Paul, you would love my new home Charleston SC. I live on an island here called James Island. Basically Charleston is a group of semi tropical islands. When you see it from the Ravenel Bridge it reminds me of the swamps from Lord Of The Rings. After Hugo blew through here back in 89 it pretty...

The beast is dead!! long live the Newer Beast??

This scape is begging to be videoed! lol! Looks awesome Mike. I agree that the pictures are hard to tell by if you don't know what your looking at. No worries, most here know what they are seeing. ;) Where is the Calcuim reactor pics? I am really curious about the diffuser.

    Love of the hobby

Great read Paul. It really brought me back home. I may not be as old as you (41) but i have similar memories of fulton st and finding the stuff that no one wanted. I saw my first star fish there! Your making me ache for ny lol! Though 76° today here in the south makes my bones happier ;-) Tobay...

    Best reef salt mix?

I have found RBS (reefers best salt) to work best for my purposes. Alway spot on when mixed properly and at the correct temp. I was able to do 5% water changes weekly with this salt and all my parameter were perfect for the year i used it. A bit pricey but worth the extra cost for the results i...

Time for another one... Custom 300 Gallon setup

Looks like a fun build! Fish are the usual first additions. This is the time those unwanted fish are added. Then corals go in and fish pick on them, and we get stuck with fish that are hard to catch ;) Its a tough choice but i suggest doing the coals first and being very picky about the fish you...

    170 gal Peninsula system

You can throttle back all the ampmaster pumps without damage to the pump. Just be sure to put the gatevalve on the output side of the pump. Not the intake side. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Forum Runner
