    Does your reactor clog

I'm running a TLF phosban reactor for GFO, and an Avast Marine Media reactor for bio beads. The only issue with the phosban clogging up is due to the media not being tumbled enough to keep that from happening, and the only issue I have with the Avast reactor is that Bio Beads don't seem to work(...

New Hawaiian Fish Regulation: (Prepare for Hawaiian Fish Prices to increase)

They were shut down for a couple of years so that they could move to a different location. I believe it was for more space.

    equipment

Auto water changers are a personal choice. I use a couple of different 55 gallon barrels and 44 gallon Brute Trash cans I bought specifically for this purpose. The Brute's hold RO water. The drums hold mixed salt water. My set up in my basement on the unfinished side, so water spills are a...

    equipment

I'll go a different route..... What do you want to keep? That is the most important facet of setting up/designing your system and it will dictate what equipment you must have. You want SPS? No problem. You will need high light intensity. High volume of water movement. Clean and stable water...

Sprung's "The Reef Aquarium", which volume first?

I got them out of order....accidentally. A friend gifted me with Vol 3. Chapter 8, (chemistry) will make your eyes cross (unless you're a chem geek like Boomer), but otherwise, I found it possible to follow along with the information in the book. I found the information in the first two to be...

Why not? Zebra sharks are a unique and beautiful shark....that just needs ALOT of room. They get to be around 8 feet in length and are active swimmers. I do believe they are related to Nurse Sharks.

New Hawaiian Fish Regulation: (Prepare for Hawaiian Fish Prices to increase)

Wet Pets wasn't around when I lived on Oahu. The biggest store and only Wholesale/Retail store on Oahu at the time I lived there, 1986-1990 was Coral Fish Hawaii. They were housed in two huge warehouses and had over a million gallons of saltwater when I worked there, so we got to see some...

New Hawaiian Fish Regulation: (Prepare for Hawaiian Fish Prices to increase)

True Hawaiian Flame angels are very rare. The entire time I lived there I only saw 10-12 come through Coral Fish Hawaii. Regular Philippine, Indonesian, or Christmas Island, (which is technically part of the Hawaiian Island Chain) were $20 each, the true Hawaiian Flames were $40-$60. Of course...

New Hawaiian Fish Regulation: (Prepare for Hawaiian Fish Prices to increase)

Yes, the others are still open and not currently affected. However, this regulation is expected to spread to other islands and other areas. You're correct, there are no scorpions, lions, or even frog fish or Potter's Wrasses on the White list.

New Hawaiian Fish Regulation: (Prepare for Hawaiian Fish Prices to increase)

The new rules stipulate a "bag limit" on collectable fishes, meaning each collector can only take a certain number of fish by species. Prices will most likely rise accordingly.
