    a mystery bug, and hydroids

Herbie Method with out overflow box?

Why would you want to have the water level in your tank lower than the upper lip? I think it would look ugly.

    Deep Mud Bed Retention refugium

Kitty litter is basically a zeolite and it will provide a lot of surface area for Nitrifying bacteria to live. I'm not sure why you would necessarily need to use a deep bed though? I doubt it would provide the correct conditions necessary for a DSB that would give you NNR (Natural Nitrate...

Which Phosphate Remover Product is the best?

I find that Rowaphos works better in a Phosban Reactor than does Phosban. (Funny huh?) In a media bag, the phosban works better. With that said, if you are using a media bag, I highly recommend Phosar over these. Like Don said, the bigger granules have better flow characteristics.

    Help with Galaxia coral

    koralia controller ...

Wavemakers are notorious for being very hard on powerheads. The sudden on/off causes them to wear out early and sometimes even to restart spinning in the wrong direction. The way Hydor Korallia decided to fix this was two-fold; 1) Use DC motors in the powerheads vs AC powerheads 2) Never...

i am intrested in idenfyinfg this what i call the sheilded slug

Stomatella varia snails are great hitchhikers. Also, because they don't go through a planktonic stage, they are able to reproduce in your tank.
