What size is your return line for your mag 12? We had a 12. thought it was way under powered so we got an 18 with hardly any improvement. After some searching online I found the mags are really hindered when using < 1" pipe we swapped out the 3/4 and went with 1.5. It made a huge difference...

Also sometimes it just takes a while, ours are a pair but this is only the second time they have tried to breed and we've had them for almost 6 months. When they do settle down and breed people report its like clockwork though

From what I read sometimes upping their feedings can help. Fed them twice a day instead of once. I still just fed them once and the male is holding again (15 days so far) so I'm starting to plan a brine shrimp hatchery :-)

They tend to float if not soaked and can push through the top screen of some reactors and out into the tank.

I'm not sure, I know there are a few different brands with different color mixes. Ecoxotic has a 5 led setup (2blue/3white) Ecoxotic PAR38 LED Aquarium Lights Rapidled has a 7 led (4blue/3white) 7 LED PAR38 Bulb Both use Cree LEDs which seems to be about the best LED for DIY and has 2+ year...

I've never used them, but I have read good reviews online.

If he holds to term (heard a lot of stories of them swallowing the clutch until powerfed) and I can get a good brineshrimp setup going to feed the babies I'd be glad to save a couple for you. We got the pair to raise the fry if we could.

They were both about the same size, it's hard to tell the sex of them without seeing a male holding a clutch then his jaw swells up.
