    Led help

Double checked all connections, they're good. For some reason I had continuity on at least one screw on each of them, there isn't any solder off the pads, so I doubled up the washers. One of them I had to use the thermal adhesive. It was strange but is all good to go now

    Led help

Ok, got my kit all wired up, drivers all at the proper power level. On one string of led's I have 4 led's that don't seem to work. They are the first 4 where the power comes in from the driver, the rest on the string work. They do work with a battery tester, I changed a solder point on one of...

    Skimmer question!

That's a great question, never even occurred to me. My skimmer is always productive but sometimes more productive then others. Never thought that could have any impact on it?

    GPH

One thing I noticed, I used to run 1400gph through my sump via two pumps. I would have about 1/4 left on the teeth of my overflow, but I would always have a little bit of film on he surface of the water. I shut down one of the pumps just to test the low flow vs high flow theory. With only...

As someone who has struggled with powerhead placement i would also love to read that! =)

    LED Question

Those led's senji got look pretty cool. I think putting together my own lighting would be pretty cool to do also. Looks like I have some thinking to do. Mike with RapidLED was also very helpful in answering some more questions I had.

    Sun ?

Ohh, that would be interesting to know!!

I only have a 750gph pump for my return on my 90. You don't want a ton of flow through there because that takes away from the time you skimmer has to process the water. As for to much flow, I think you'd be alright. Do you have a sand bed? My tank is bare bottom, I have 4 of the 1050gph...

    LED Question

That may not be a bad deal, is there a website to look at them. How much less for the 4 pod version? I'm only looking at $500 to light the whole tank from rapid led. That's probably the top of my budget, especially since this wasn't really a planned expense.

    LED Question

Wow, that's pretty cool. I kind of want to buy one of those heatsinks just to have because it looks so awesome.

    LED Question

It comes with two 6x20 heat sinks, I looked at that controller but I was thinking of going with a more simple setup with potentiometers. I think it was a $30 addon to get a pre done setup. Is a controller like that better?

    LED Question

That thread was a very good read, thanks for the link and taking the time to post the build =) Hopefully my ballast lasts a while, i would rather not spend the money right now, especially since i just had to buy a new lumatek ballast to replace the other one that failed a few months ago. I guess...

    LED Question

Very helpful! Thanks for the replies. That was my concern with those was they only had a 40 degree lens on them, on a 90 that's probably at a minimum 2 per side, maybe 3 for the right coverage? I was looking at the rapid led sight and looked up a retrofit kit for a 90 gallon tank that they sell...

    LED Question

Was just browsing around and looking through the tons of options for LED lighting. Everywhere i look i keep seeing these Ecoxotic PAR38 LED screw in lamps. How are these things and what depth of tank would they be good for? I have a 90 gallon tank. I'm mostly looking because my second icecap...

    Light requirements

I actually run two 175w halides over my 90 and that's all. Lamps are about 9 inches off the water and are 20k's. There's sps 1/3 up from the bottom all the way up, they all do great. Zoos, mushrooms, LPS are all mixed in as well. As they mentioned above, you'll be fine =)

Sounds cool! I will have to come over and check it out =)

    Children's hospital hermits are big.

They are pretty cool, Eric down at The Shark Reef here in Silverdale used to have one that size, he was yellow though. Was really cool to watch.

Not sure what if anything these would be worth
