    Using a Dwyer Questions

I don't believe this is the correct forum for an equipment question...but I would go to: http://www.dwyer-inst.com/htdocs/flow/SeriesRMPrice.cfm And from there click on the "Service Manual" for the particular model you have. Hope that helps.

    Good Tang

If you have a large enough tank, I also recommend an Achilies. Mellow tankmates. :) Just ensure you use a good QT procedure before adding to your tank. This not only helps with any ailments, but with getting your new addition used to what you will be feeding it, without having to worry about...

    Freezer Burn

Personally... when meat in my freezer gets freezer burn, I won't eat it...so I'm not going to expect my fish to either.

    Me, Myself, & Sherman too.

So...you're saying this actually works for all that "wonderful" (???) coraline that tends to develope when we aren't doing our maintenance the way we should??? :p;)

    3 month old tank

Clxcota, 1st, and most importantly... WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!!!!! :D :D :D If you can tell us more about your system, we can give you better information that may help with your situation. What size tank? Amount of Live Rock? Flow? Lighting? Animals? Tests? Maintenance schedule...

    Return Pump Poll...

All of the above are good suggestions. You really only need about 3X turnover rate in a return pump. If you are wanting flow for SPS's, you're looking at about 30X flow rate (general rule, type and placement are more important)...which you won't have going through your return pump anyway...

tiny bubbles everywhere & red slime starting

Try to remember, "nothing GOOD happens in the reef world quickly"!!! This also goes for clearing up problems, like your nutrient/red slime problem. Try as you will, this won't clear up in a couple days, or even a week. You WILL notice improvement that soon, but the problem will still be...

    Fish in trouble?

Is it possible this was more a "milky" look to the water, vice a dirty look? If so, its possible your cucumber or another invert went through a spawning. In either case, the steps you have taken seem appropriate...water change, fresh carbon, fresh filter-floss and cleaning your skimmer. Just...

    Can it be fix?????

To "remove" those scratches, you will basically remove enough of the plexiglass to get down to the depth the scratches are at. From a brand new tank, yes...this is weaker...but IF you were going to use this now, the depth of the scratches are already in there...so I'm thinking any weakening has...

    Can it be fix?????

I picked up my 180 at a SUPER price, because it was scratched (but not quite as badly as pictured above)...and buffing worked well. I will admit that it is WORK (weight and motion of the buffer), and being lazy I didn't go very long in any one place...which is probably why I had no problems...

    Can it be fix?????

If this is something covering the majority of the surface...I suggest using either a neumatic or electric car buffer. Most auto parts dealers have good SOFT quality pads for buffers, along with various "grit" of polishing liquid to use with them. Just ensure after you have completed all...

    diying fish

Another "stranger than not" possibility is one of your tank inhabitants isn't the happiest with its new additions, and chases it around the tank. In that being chased, the new addition jumps up out of the water, only to bounce up against a very hot Metal Halide bulb, which burns it severly...

    ? diy tank

You can always go to: www.garf.org Wait for the page to fully load (menu's on left close to main topics only), then about 2/3'rds of the way down the list, click on "DIY Pages", it expands, then click on "Tank Building". From that page, input your Height, length & width... as well as your...

Ok, what the heck is going on here....

Brie, I've never owned a Kenya Tree, but in an effort to help bump your post back up to the top...thought I would mention that I have read several people in the past that have also noticed this "branch dropping" from them, so I'm assuming that it is how they propagate.

    Sufficient filtration for QT?

I would think using your bio-balls to help "jump-start" your filtration probably won't hurt...but may not help a bunch either. Remember, a lot of the things that happen in our QT tank, don't promote a healthy biofiltration system. Lowering the Specific Gravity, as well as many of the...
