I'm having a hard time getting my dkh to normal levels and at the same time my ph (they're low) ...it seems that my coralline algae started to bloom and this might be the reason for high carbonate consumption...i have to add "reef builder" every day to keep up..I even got the 1 kilo version...is this high consumption of carbonate normal?

In most tanks, Alk gets consumed at a faster rate than Ca. At least from what I've seen.
For the time being, ignore your pH until you get your levels where you like. Most effects from adding an Alk supplement are temporary, and your pH will return to normal w/in a few hours. For what its worth, don't use a buffer or other type of liquid to regulate pH. Simply opening a window can change your pH.

1. What is your desired level for both Alk and Ca?
2. What brand test kit?
3. What type of ph kit?

Clxcota,

1st, and most importantly... WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!!!!! :D :D :D

If you can tell us more about your system, we can give you better information that may help with your situation.

What size tank? Amount of Live Rock? Flow? Lighting? Animals? Tests? Maintenance schedule?

When you tell us about your test and results from those tests, also include the brand of tests you are using. I mention this because some brands are easier to use, and more accurate than others...and understanding what you're working with will help with better answers.

Off hand, your problem is an imbalance in your alk,Calc, Mag levels. I know when I was starting my tank, I had read enough to know to check for Alk & Calcium...but didn't understand how important Magnesium levels were to helping maintain those balances.

Anyway... let us know more about your system and your tests. There is a wealth of knowledge here on Reef Frontiers, and I'm sure someone will have the answer to help you!

Again... WELCOME TO REEF FRONTIERS!!!!! :D :D :D

Also include salt brand.

may want to back off the reefbuilder until you can test as mentioned, sometimes these can throw your prams out of wack, as I would suspect.
