    I would be more concerned about stony corals becoming endangered - or simply no more coral reefs. Globally, Reefs are having massive die offs. Acidification, temperature rising, pollution, silting from construction, and the like. One can see changes in under a year for many reefs.

    Add a T to create a syphon break. Have a line to the top of the T go high enough such that gravity prevents water flowing out. Viola, no syphon nor backflow regardless of height differential.
