    Wow BIG eartquake rocks Asia

Man, my thoughts & prays go out to those people. Was watching the nightly news an one person they interviewed said it jolted the earths rotation . Checked the AP and sure enough its there also! Cool link R/C Tom, hope all is well with your family & friends.

    Amp master upside down

ooh,i gottacha. What are you going to mount it to? I don't see a problem with rotating the pump 180, haven't done it though. Are you trying to save space and stack the 2 Dolphin's? That would be a great idea! Hopefully someone with a more experience with dolphins will chime in on this but as i...

    Amp master upside down

DonW, do you mean have the inlet/outlet below the motor? If so that is NOT how it is designed to run, meaning pull water up and out. Think you would have the same problem Mike is having with his skimmer nix the air line! You running out of space?

Thanks Tom, do you feel the xm 20k bulbs tend to pull more blue color out of the corals you have? I'm running 2x250 xm 10k's SE + VHO 03's and have thought about going to a mix 10k-20k setup and nix the VHO's.AWSSOME color on that coral!! Thanks again

    Closed loop

DonW, if you went with 2- 1 1/4" drains vs 1 -1.5" you would decrease the suction and insure flow would not be disrupted by any blockage that might happen. 2- 1.25 drains would give you 2.454 sq in. vs 1.767 for a 1.5. I'm working up a CL with 6 outlets (3 top, 3 bottom) on a amp3000 so will be...

    Closed loop

Great!! another thread that is talking about something I'm going to be doing soon :D . Must say, I really like the way things are discussed on this board! Volumes of information & knowledge. Have a 150gal.(60x24x24)in the design stage and this is one area I have lots of ?? I don't think a 2100...

    New Skimmer

Hey Mike, sorry to hear your having a problem. If memory services me right (considering my CRS problem) that pump is to small for a mazzei hence the reason the the mag12 working better. Think you would need to go with a venturi more like what Donw or Big T is using with a 3/8 hose and a needle...

    Low CA in IO salt

Thanks Collin, good to know this is some of the stuff WC's take care of! "Mostly, this doesn't hurt when talking about sodium and chloride and so forth as they are the main bulk of sea salt anyway. However, if one never changed water it might become an issue over a very long time." Thats...

    Low CA in IO salt

Don, what 2 part DIY is that from? looked in the library didn't see it, another board?Would ?? the purity of Dri-Z air also. Wrightme, good ?? maybe Collin will chime in an answer that, know there are 2 types of CA used but don't recall what happens with the stray molecule. Having CRS syndrome...

Mike, would you have a source for the calcium chloride that Kevin talked about, don't know how much i would need but a place to start would be good. Keith

Sweeet!! Mike, i didn't know you were into building rocket motors as a second hobby!! I'd offer to help but then i'd be drooling over all your other cool stuff and ya wouldn't get anything done!! Being the rookie and having looked at the drawing have a couple of ?? Are the drip ledges...

    Low CA in IO salt

Thanks all for the replies! Agree with that!! I don't get to anal about keeping parameters at exact #'s just have a range i like to see them in and a Ca of 350 is below the 380-420 i like to see.I do run kalk and tank ph runs between 8.0 & 8.3. I believe what your saying is not to be so...

    Low CA in IO salt

Ok did a KH /alk ,ph & mg test as follows, kh/alk 11.5/4.11, ph 8.1 & mg 1200. This is WC and not tank par's. Agree with not running high kh/alk,Ca and try to maintain #'s closer to NSW. From what i'm seeing kh/alk is high ph is fine and mg is a little low. Would like to know of another...

    Low CA in IO salt

Mixed a 25gal batch w/rodi water at 35ppt/1.025 and checked CA. Reading was 350 using a Salifert test. Exp date on the kit is Aug. 16 2008. Did another test, showed same results. Did a test with Seatest kit and it showed 340  . Any one have this problem? SG done with captive purity refrac...

    A Sediment substrate that works

Wow,75% would be great, couple of ? Because of the flux in the anaerobic zone from pulling the water from the plenum at a high rate, do you think it would be better to stir the plenum and let gravity draw the water off? At the Carb Sea site the system they describe uses fiberglass screen,is...
