    Mesh Mod Issues

Just needing a bit of advice... I mesh-modded an Octopus 110 Recirculating Skimmer and am now having some issues with it producing too much foam (presently filling a gallon waste container in about 15 minutes even with the valve adjusted to keep the foam at the lowest possible level). I did...

Anyone have an Oceanic 8gal nanocube? Lighting Q.

You can pick up just about anything at nanotuners.com (including mod kits to upgrade lighting). They're really good to deal with.

    Mandarin Q's

Thanks for the reply! I think that the problem with the photos is the angle of the shot in relation to the lighting which is pretty close to that spot in the tank. I can try to take some better if it would help. His coloring is really vibrant. The "mysis" are definately the saltwater version...

    Mandarin Q's

Heya. Wondering if some of you more experienced mandy keepers could give me an opinion of how mine is looking. I've had him for about 2 months now. When I got him he was pretty thin with a very pronounced line on his mid-section. I think he's looking better, definately fatter, but this is my...

    Green Dust Algae???

About a month and a half ago I upgraded to larger tank. Since that time I've gone through the typical new tank issues (diatoms, etc), but recently I've had a development that I haven't seen before. I'm getting a very fine green algae that accumulates on the glass. It grows exclusively on the...

Help anyone seen/had this before? with theirs

Weird. Pretty sure I got a chunk of the same zoos at the swap. Mine came in almost a half ball and have stayed essentially the same.

Any feedback on Catalina Ocean Water

I use it for my nano and really like it. It's super convenient and I feel it keeps the chemistry in my water more consistant than salt mixes. The PH is also stable at 8.3 generally which is nice. I still pour it in a bucket to heat it and adjust the salinity before adding it to the tank though...

    Cup Coral Issues

I really haven't had any problems with the mix. I'm getting good growth all around. I use carbon 24/7 which is changed weekly to pull out as much of the chemicals excreted the softies as I can and also run a skimmer 12 hours a day.

    Cup Coral Issues

Thank you so much for the response. I floated for temp, then did a short measuring cup acclimation over about 20 minutes and a brief dip. By the time I got home the coral had been bagged for probably 7-8 hours so I decided against anything more lengthy. Positioned diagonally on a rock about...

    Cup Coral Issues

I picked up a yellow cup coral, Turbinaria frondens I believe, at the frag swap last weekend. It's been placed in my tank since Saturday evening (4 days ago), but I have yet to see any of the polyps open up or extend at all. I'm wondering if it's normal for these to act like this. I also have a...

    Heliofungia Placement

Thanks Susie. I did spot that baby fungia plate. I love the purple color BTW, I've never seen one quite like it. I have them both on the sand with no plans to move either. Mostly wondering about whether or not to move the GSP and the zoos. P.S. I placed everything yesterday. Just waiting for it...

    Heliofungia Placement

I got a new heliofungia about 2 weeks ago and put it in a spot on the sand where it had plenty of room to open up without touching anything. Since that time though, it has become pretty happy with its surroundings and either by virtue of growth or just expanding completely it is now opening up...

Where to get MH retro fit?

You should be able to get one at www.nanotuners.com. I've read some pretty negative feedback on MH retrofitted cube hoods though and personally would stay away. A pendant or sunpod type fixture is fine because of the open top aspect, but when the MH is fit into the hood there are reportedly...

Macro Algae ID Please (pic included)

Nope, definately not Gracilaria. Similar coloring, but this stuff is not branchy like that at all. The leaves are literally straight up and down like thin strips of tape. Looked through the others in that page you linked to as well...none of them either. Thanks for the guess though. :p

Macro Algae ID Please (pic included)

Wondering if anyone could help me ID this stuff. Dark red, grows attached to rock. Leaves are fairly rigid (but still flexible) and appear as straight, thin strips (maybe 2-3 mm thick) and grow up to about 3 inches in length. Slow grower, seems non invasive....just can't quite figure out what...

    Catching Shrimp

Fish trap. That's how I caught mine. Chased the little sucker around for a week using all sorts of different plans and food loaded nets with no luck. Finally decided to give the trap a try and caught him in 10 minutes, no joke. Take a 2 liter bottle and cut it about 1/3 of the way down. Place a...
