    'Reservoirless' top off systems?

http://autotopoff.com/products/S/index.htm Try this. you have to buy the float switch as well but it should work. I would definatly buy the double switch controller that way you have a back up if the first one gets clogged. But 85 plus shipping should get you set up really nice.

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Im not really sure yet. Right now im doing all my testing out in the driveway and I havent finished the stand, because I dont want all of the wood work to get wet while doing all my testing. But I can tell you it is louder than I thought it would be. Although it is my first large pump like...

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Just an update....I got my panworld 100xt and plumbed up my drains to my sump and everything is working good. the overflow is silent from 3 feet away. The return on the sump is a different story, but I have some ideas. Just having them dump under the water knocked the noise down ALOT. Im...

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

I third that notion. I always leave my drill in low gear. Full speed just seems too violent and scary for me.

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Actually I am going to drill a 3 1/8 inch hole in the back of that tank. It is a 120 gallon AGA. The larger hole is gonna be for a 2" bulkhead that will feed a Sequence Dart to my OM 4 way. Its gonna be my first closed loop...I cant wait.

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Ok here are the photos. I did three of them on this tank in the same manner...it isnt hard at all...just take your time and go slow

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

well i just drilled three holes in the back of my 120 tonight. I took pictures for ya but am tired and dont wanna upload tonight. But ill do it tomorrow. It really isnt that hard. Most of the glass stores I went to wanted more than the cost of the bit to drill it, and wouldnt give me any...

Bottom drilled or Back drilled drains

Just use a piece of 1x4 for the template and get someone to hold it in place. turn the tank on its side if your gonna drill the back and after you get the hole started get your mom or whoever(if your mom's freaking out about it) to hold the waterhose keeping a good flow. The important part is...

    Camera choice?

Personally I perfer canon. I have used both, and while Nikon makes a wonderful product I just perfer the feel of the canon, not to mention that as far as digital goes, Canon's line is constantly improving, making them the leader as far as I'm concerned. I don't know how much money you are all...

    calculating flow

yea ive seen that flow calculator, does anyone know where i can find one that calculates flow for more than one drain. I would imagine that a 1.5" drain would flow differently than two 3/4" drains.

    calculating flow

I am in the process of building a new 120 tank. It is gonna be drilled with overflow. I want to know what kind of flow I would get through 3/4" drains. If I can get enough flow through two of these drains I would like to stick with just two, but I would be willing to drill more if need be. I...

Good substrate for DSB and Jawfish?

If i make one side deeper with larger pieces how do I ensure that he uses that corner and doesnt just swim around the tank freaking out cause he doesnt have the correct substrate somewhere else.

Good substrate for DSB and Jawfish?

It seems to me the sand needed for a successful DSB and the sand needed to keep jawfish contradict each other. For a DSB most people say to use a fine grain sand, while when wanting to keep jawfish, a heterogenous mixture of medium to large size would do well. My question for everyone out...

to drill or not to drill?

I forgot to add that you want to get the ones that are electroplate bonded or the diamond bits will fall out alot faster and wont last as long or work as well.

to drill or not to drill?

It is not as hard as you would think. I am working on a 90 gallon and have drilled about 4 holes in the sump so far. I was very scared and read everything i could about it. I read all about bracing the glass and using all kinds of special lubricants. But it all seemed like overkill, so I...

    Aqua C or Euro-Reef

Thanks for the Reply. You said it is very well built, is that the only good think about it. Does it remove alot of crud or does it just sit there and make alot of noise...haha...I'm beginning to understand that the skimmer and lights are two of the most important things to consider in a reef...

    Aqua C or Euro-Reef

I am new to the forum and am in the process of building a sump for a 90 gallon reef. To begin with it will probably just be a fowler tank until I can afford some nice lights. Id rather buy better quality equipment a little at a time than buy cheaper and get it all done quickly. My question...
