    MH bulb choices and the pro's and cons?

    I like the 14K Phoenix not only do they look good to me with good blue tint that is not overpowering with good coral growth. I use them without any supplemental lighting and they are lower in cost. If you want you can PM me and I can point you in the best price I have found at $47.99ea

    I am no expert but have read and some say it does especially if you use "green" glass it is clear glass but when you look at it from the cut side it looks green. I used 3/16 green glass and still was bleaching my SPS due to high UV that is why I laminated the uv shield and everything colored up...

    UV shielding I use regular glass from my local glass shop 3/16 inch then add a laminated uv shield to it. It is the stuff you can get from Lowes and laminate onto to your home windows as a uv blocker like a car tent but it is clear and works well.

    I rinse the sand with R/O water very well before adding to the tank to help eliminate this problem then the sand clears in a few hours or at least the next day.

    I use I.O. and have had zero issues. Pluss I can't beat the price when I get in in the 200gal box's delivered to my door.

    what do you do for a living

    Firefighter/Paramedic. I tend to run into situations that everyone runs from. Such as burning buildings, trauma, hazmat, confined space, High angle ect. I love my Job!

    Glad to hear it is doing better. Mine tend to like low flow the best. Like most corals when moved, relocated, change of lighting ect. they can take awhile to re-adjust.
