    Newbie mistakes...need guidance!

If you have a sump I'd recommend this skimmer: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Protein-Skimmers-Octopus-Needlewheel-Skimmers/c101_105/p581/OCT-NW-110-Octopus-Needlewheel-Skimmer/product_info.html. That's what I use in my 72g and it's working great considering the price is pretty low for a skimmer...

    water Top off for Nano

This is the controller I use http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Auto-Top-Off-Systems/c72/p361/Reef-Fanatic-Level-Controller-w/2-Float-Switches/product_info.html to auto-top off our sump. Just get an aqualifter for it and let it do it's thing when the sensors say the water is low. As far as top-off...

    Help with Skimmer

I've got an Octopus 150 going in a 72g tank right now and it's doing great with no mods...it would probably do better with mods, but I have no clue how to do it. In any case...if you decide that you don't want the 150 anymore, let me know--I've got a 54g corner tank in my garage I'm working on...

    coraline

Congrats on being MOTM Mark! For an auto-topoff, I got a water level controller from reefgeek for $89 and hooked up an aqaulifter to it that sucks water out of a rubbermaid top-off container (that my RODI pumps into with it's own float valve) into the sump when the water level goes down. It...

    New Pics: Project 375

At least the spots don't look like ich to me so that's a good thing. I like the pics and even the Flickr name; I'm a tech writer myself :-)

    magnetic powerheads

Bonus: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage~PageAlias~powerheads_pumps_icecap_ecotech_marine_vortech_propeller.html "Optional Battery Backup - Keeps the circulation going during power failure for up to 30 hours." ...but i'm not paying $500 for a powerhead. Bummer.

    Cool YouTube Video

  12. JeffGil

LOL You'd better put a sheet over the tank the next time you watch a movie!!!

OK, I'll say it: "wow" I feel sorry for all those snorkeling tourists who will try to catch the pretty fishy...

    Live Rock Busted!!

I'm curious to see a picture too. I've been lurking reading these posts and I'll preface my comments by saying that I'm thinking the forum mods are pretty much experts on this stuff and know what they're talking about. Additionally, these are all my personal opinions and not based on any kind of...

    what starts cyano?

I'm definately no expert here, but with perfect water parameters I had a major outbreak of cyano in a 20g (even growing on the corals!) and used Red Slime Remover on my LFS's recommendation and it was completely gone within 2 days with no adverse effects on the rest of the tanks' inhabitants...

Coraline, whats the best way to remove it?

LOL I didn't notice the tank was empty...quick, refill it, get an urchin and wait three months... nah, just turn on the water hose and don't heat it up lol Either that or it may be razor blade time.

Coraline, whats the best way to remove it?

urchins love that stuff...but they also love to pick up everything else in your tank and run around with it on their backs lol
  19. JeffGil

    emerald crabs

We've got two big ones in a 72g tank that are maybe 2.5" wide (one is green and one is red) and they pretty much stay busy picking at the rocks all the time, but they do tend to poke around at everything when the mood strikes them. I haven't seen any real damage to our corals other than...

Just giving this thread a bump. I've been looking for these switch panels forever and could never find them.
