How did this baby fish get into my display?

Thanks, they are doing GREAT! I have transferred them all to my 29, both broods. The big guys are just over 3/4 of an inch now, and the little guys are 1/2 inch long. I love looking at the nursery tank, they are growing so fast and are so pretty at this age!

Large scary worm, eats acans like candy

I was doing a just-lights-out feeding of my LPS, doting on my acan lords as they haven't been looking so hot lately, when I spotted an enormous whiskery head pop out of a hole in the rock. I kept looking, and what appeared was out of some horror film. Seriously hideous. NOT a bristle worm. I...

How did this baby fish get into my display?

Thanks Mike, I will take you up on that offer. :) I will start offering baby BS tomorrow and daily for about a week. Last time I had great luck in offering BS along with Reed Mariculture Otohime fry/weaning diet. I start with B-1 and soon go to B-2, then C-1 and 2. The "B" size seems to...

How did this baby fish get into my display?

Newborn (new-spit?) net pen in sump, it's just a large green net sitting in the 'fuge with some rocks in it and a little eggcrate that lets the fry have some hiding security and also holds the net down. I added the styrofoam so if/when the sump level rises, so does the net pen. Learned this...

How did this baby fish get into my display?

I am catching on to this Bangaii breeding thing, I think. Tonight I caught the male out of the display, since it was about 21 days after I estimated that he started "holding" and had quit eating. I lost all but three of the first batch since I had improvised a net pen in the sump for the...

How did this baby fish get into my display?

I like to shine a flashlight around the tank after lights out. Tonight, after admiring the scoly's tentacles and looking around for 'pods, I saw a tiny flash of silver. NO WAY! Seriously, I thought I was seeing things or someone was pranking me. I have told everyone that I was not ever...

    water storage

I have a couple of 55 gallon white-clear drums that I purchased from Eds Surplus in Lynnwood for under 20 bucks each. They were used to store soda-pop syrup. Wow, did they ever smell like it! I cleaned them out in the summer sunshine in the backyard, first with hose water, letting the sun...

2011 North Sound Reefers Summer BBQ Aug 27th

What a lovely get together! It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I even learned a lot about my magnesium deficiency (thus my calcium deficiency) and WOW, the food was awesome ! Thank you for hosting this sunny, yummy event. :)

How Do You Acclimate Your Fish?

I do exactly as Myteemouse does. I always assume that the water that the fish is in is full of stress hormones and fish pee, so down the drain it goes.

    Another SeaMax coral ID...

I know so little about all the corals, but not to say it isn't sympodium, it just looks like Lepastrea to me, especially the yellow. leptastrea - Google Search

Calcium Discussion - Add yer 2 cents

Jim, I like the way you are thinking and I just wish I could have made it to SeaMax to hear that seminar. Does anyone ever tape these seminars? (not to detour your thread, it probably wouldn't be kosher to do that anyway)... I would LOVE to be able to dose a two part automatically somehow, and...

Calcium Discussion - Add yer 2 cents

I too would like some more discussion on this. I currently manually dose on my 180, just like I have been doing for years on my 2 29s, but since the big tank is fairly new, I am having trouble keeping Cal (and mag) at a high and constant level. I wondered about using a doser, since it seemed...

    Dosers

Thank you all, I have been looking at the GEO reactors and have been getting a few ideas about how to off-gas the Co2. Some are saying that even to put an airstone near the drip, preferably in a enclosed "tower" or whatnot. I do want this to be as easy as possible and wow, how cool would it be...

    Dosers

I would be there for a mini-workshop. I was asking about dosers, as they don't seem to have the problem with PH as a cal reactor with Co2 does. I'd rather get away from the addition of a Kalk-stirrer just to get stable and correct PH. Unless the new dual chambered reactors eliminate the...

    Dosers

I would like to know if there are any of you out there who use a doser for Cal. or Mag. (or anything else for that matter.) What brands do you use? What are you dosing for? Can you hook them up to a controller? Any horror stories? The reason I am asking this is now that I have a big tank...

    Pics of my new angelfish

I hope you name that King Angelfish "Elvis", as he is the one and only KING. :) A very beautiful fish to add to your collection. Which ones are you missing to complete the royalty? ;)
