    The tights i put the phosphate remover in tangled up the impeller on my canister filter luckily i noticed before any damage was done lol The green algae isn't spreading and im sure its receding from the critters in tank eating it . Theres now brown algae growing on my crushed coral substrate...

    I've given the tank a scrub (urchin permitting) and its looking much cleaner . I'll keep on top of it and get the water tested in two weeks when i do my next change. The wife won't let me buy anything else this month so i can't get my own phosphate tester yet heheh .

    It was established about a year or so i think. We got the move done and the tank set back up 2 1/2 hours .

    Took a water sample to friendly lfs and identified high phospates which is causing the algae . Ive got some phosphate remover for my canister filter so I'll hopefully see an improvement .

    The guy I got the tank off reckons they'll need changing in the summer. How long should bulbs last? Do the soft corals need feeding once a week?

    green algae

    i've noticed a few patches of green algae on the back and sides of my tank. I have about 5 turbo snails but they seem to be ignoring it. Any advice about getting rid ? I was thinking of scrubbing it away with a clean sponge

    I was not planning on getting any animals for a few months but i saw a fire shrimp in my lfs and couldnt help myself . Next time i go for water I'll be stronger :) im not going to add anything more for a very long time and just let the tank settle . Thanks for all your help !

    Thanks again I'll look into acquiring that book . I've had the tank less than a week it was drained and moved from my friends house about 2 miles away it took us about 3 hours to move it and set it up again. Would the tank be similar now to a brand new tank ? We used the same water.
