Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

I was not planning on getting any animals for a few months but i saw a fire shrimp in my lfs and couldnt help myself . Next time i go for water I'll be stronger :) im not going to add anything more for a very long time and just let the tank settle .

Thanks for all your help !

Always intresting to see how someone in the uk does it! Following along and welcome too =)
Look into a protein skimmer. Ur water changes will b great and the skimmer will work in between.

Do I need one ? The tank is situated in our lounge and im worried about too much noise :)

Just another question (im a pest I know !) I love a bit of DIY and the tank is located adjacent to my garage wall . Does anyone have any suggestions about building further filtration in the garage and running the pipes through the walls?

I have a vision of one day having all the equipment sat in the garage and just having flow and return pipes coming through the wall and into the tank , is something like that even possible ?

It is definitely possible to run pipes through the wall to your garage. Browse the new builds and you are sure to see other aquarists who have done just that.

Definitely, put your filtration in the garage. Bigger the better. You wont have to worry about the noise. And with extra filtration and a good skimmer you can upgrade to a bigger tank after you overstock this one. ;) its an addiction I tell you!

i agree that looks like aptasia and could the first coral be a aleviapora?

Thanks guys I've got some red sea aptasia-x on order . There days are numbered. Has anyone had any experience with this stuff ?

Well good luck with the aptasia x. I've never used it but I'm sure if you just follow the directions you should be fine. Its good that you are getting them now before they multiply and over run your tank.

Yeh thanks mate . Ive spotted them all over the place now and two are settled in nicely within my orange zoa .
