I'd be a little worried about gas fumes from my garage. Although I may consider moving it to another room. My pump has actually quieted down a lot but it seems that when i turn it off and then back on after doing a water change it seems to be loud for a few hours. Oh well, i guess ill just...

How loud would yall say your air pumps are? Mine seems louder than what ive heard from other people say. I have mine in a semi-enclosed tv stand next to my aquarium and it definitely drowns out everything else on the aquarium (mag drive return pump, 2 vortechs, etc). Its really annoying while...

As far as i can tell there is no way to adjust the water in. I will have to check when i get home to see if there is an adjustment on that pump.

Thats what ive been doing air and water in are unrestricted, just using the gate valve to adjust water output. Problem is the smallest turn (as small as possible) seems to be too much one way or the other. Could be that the skimmer is too big for my tank, but not sure. Its either one of two...

Appreciate the reply, but a little more on this would be helpful. I have a 120 gallon tank, 55 gallon sump (running with probably 30 gallons in it). Fish include a foxface rabbitfish, kole tang, flame hawkfish, 6-line, dwarf flame angel, and a snowflake eel. Any advice on how to adjust the...

Also interested in this. If the potential is there to have too much air why isnt there a way to regulate the flow included with the skimmer. The reason I didnt go back with reef octopus is because I didnt want to have to modify another skimmer to get it to work correctly, at least not in this...

Are they set to be the correct mix of air/water if run without anything restricting the water or air flow in? Basically, is that ratio set up right from the factory or does it require input from the end user (i.e. valves on the air and water inlets).

Mike, thanks for that detailed response. It makes a lot of sense. Yesterday I adjusted the water level just above the black ring. I woke up this morning and there was a nice foam of bubbles right at the top of the collection cup! So, so far so good. It was nice to not have a cup filled with...

Great thread! I'm glad I found this as its hard to find others with the same skimmer. I do have a few questions though. My tank is 120 gallons with a 55 gallon sump (probably running about 25-30 gallons in the sump). I have had my skimmer running for about a month now. I didnt soak it in vinegar...
