    Mangroves

    My halide is 17" from the top of the mangrove, 28" from water surface. Any closer and the leaves start burning. The problem I run into is continually raising the fixture due to growth. I have had mangroves in a display before but off to the side. Just slower growth.

    Got mine in a 2 gallon bucket full of sand, chaeto growing around them and a 400 watt HQI Ushio for growth.

    Just go to the local paintball supply store in your area. Heck, thier probably even open weekends...

    Thank for the kind words Charlie and Cesar. The reflectors are pfo brand I think. I have aluminum foil on the front to block the light. I have removed the doors from my canopy because thier is to much heat from four 400 watt hqi's. I may change this lighting system when summer time rolls around.

    Salifert but mg comes in around 1300 and alk is 10. I get 490 ca. Are these bad numbers for sps.

    900 and 18 :confused: This is not the norm. oceanic is not a bad salt, at least not in my reef.

    IME no. Whenever I ran more than one skimmer it seemes as if they would compete for one another. One would be pulling while the other was not. Kinda of a hassle to adjust them properly. I now run 1 large beckett skimmer and am much happier. I heard somewhere that using identical skimmers may...

    copperband in a reef?

    Mine continually pecks at sps polyps. Maybe he thinks they are aptasia. No damage that I can see tho.
