    Friend Lost two Croceas overnight..

Did they just die or was the flesh gone. A crab would leave nothing but a shell.

some of my green house goodies

I have been kicking around the idea of a green house for some time. Can you give some details on the structure and temp swings. Also the differances from outside temp to inside temp?

    Diy temp probe

The Lm series give a tenth volt per degree. you can get them in centigrate also.

    Diy temp probe

You could try filling a piece of heat shrink with silicon and the sensor. then heat up the heat shrink to squeeze out the silicon. Acrylic maybe to think to give a good temp reading. What type of curcuit are you using to read the value.

    Lighting for a LARGE tank

35 inchs is real deep. you will need 400 watters on the low side for any sps or clams lower than 18 inchs. IMHO

    Friend Lost two Croceas overnight..

OK I have a couple of questions, one did he did the clams when he bought them. There are several parasites that may have come with them that could kill them. Has he added any new rock, there are several hitch hicker crabs that love clam. Also I see zero mention of lighting and flow. The reason I...

Does everyone really have 10x-20x flow?

So what your getting at is at the acro you have x gallons per hour, at the clam it is x ect... that is cool.

Does everyone really have 10x-20x flow?

I dont think that measuring the flow would matter. How would you manage this it would be different at every point in the tank. The idea as I see it is by turning over the water as much as we do we cause the water to exchange gases from the tank to the air and we move waste back into the water to...

I feed back needed on DIY aquarium

From what I hear is that the differance is there between low iron and regualr glass, but for the cost I dont think it is that much better. Acrylic will scratch, period. I would not use it. If your doing the work yourself I would stick with regular float glass.

Blind Man: You sure you wanna tell a Blonde Joke?

Has anyone used B-Ionic or C-Balance. What were the effects?

When dosing AYTHING you need to watch the levels closely. You can over do anything, watch PH and calcium, alk, all can get out of whack.

High head pressure .vs. High flow

I think high head pressure will affect flow but it really is just how far you can push the water. You need to know the size of pipe the length numbers of 90s 45s outlets ect... In short you need a pump that fits your usage, start with the total volume you want to move. This is the only thing...

Could I use a trolling motor in a reef tank?

Also the gearbox may have oil bearings may leak , lots of bad things. they are not meant for your tank and would think if it were that easy to create flow then tunze would be out of business.

need help with new tank design

A closed loop either with a spray bar(not directional) or outlets(directional) is cleaner in a tank that is setup for viewing. I personally would not do a bullet shape for many reasons. One is the cost as you are finding out. The other is distortion, unless the tank is 4 or 5 feet across, even...

need help with new tank design

Well for a reef you should have between 20 and 40 times the turn over. You will need to know the pipe size and distance for the retrun to figure the pump size. Your overflow does not need to handle all the 20 to 40 times flow but you will need maybe half going to your sump and the other half...

I have two false percs that paired up as soon as I added the new one. I had one for over a year by itself, then added a very tiny one and they just hooked up :)
