I'll take the Lumatek ballast and one of the sunlight 250 DE pendants if you still have them! :)

    Just Got Shocked!!

One thing to keep in mind, is that due to the fact that you are testing saltwater, you will always get a certain level of voltage reading. It has something to do with the ionic nature of saltwater, and the electrochemical reactions between it and your probes. I just tested my tank, and I'm...

    Just Got Shocked!!

Um, I don't think they understood.(Or simply had no clue). As long as the multimeter will handle 115/120v ac, then it will work. Maybe the individual thought you were going to submerge the device? I don't know why though. The little $10-$15 multimeters that most places carry should work just...

    Just Got Shocked!!

Unless you're sure it's the heater, I'd use a multimeter and check each piece of hardware by testing with each one on or off untill you find it. Otherwise you might just end up having to do it after a week anyway if you find out it's not the heater.

    Koralia pump question

While I don't have a model 1, both my #4's and my #2 are virtually silent. There was a motor manufacturing defect on the #2's when they first came out, and some of them were extremely loud. I had to get mine replaced. Take it back and try another one, I say.

    Is this an anenome?

They pack more punch in the way of stinging nematocysts than most coral, so they can harm corals they brush up against. And since they are not stationary, but move around, and occasionally detach and float around as well, they can do some damage. The amount depends on the specific coral, size of...

    High everything

When was the last time your probe was calibrated? If you're concerned about the alk/calcium levels, just don't run your reactor for a bit and let them come down on their own. PH should come down with it. The calcium level isn't bad, but the alk is definitely high.

    What are these??

First one looks like pseudocorynactis sp. and second one is definitely hydroids.

    Painting PVC....?

What brand plastic paint did you use? Krylon fusion seems to be what most use to paint plastic and even glass. Supposed to stick pretty well. Never used it myself, but is what I will try when the time comes.

Blue Tip acropora color fading! help

If you are not testing for any of the critical supplements you dose,(such as calcium/carbonates), the likelyhood of overdose/underdose is very high. It's also possible to overdose iodine. If It were me, I'd stop buying any more sps untill I was sure that my tanks parameters were in the range...

    Zoos arrived not looking good

Sorry to hear that the zoanthids aren't making it. What's the name of the moses lake lfs? I've been to a couple east and west, but didn't think about moses lake. Yeah, there's not much. . . .of anything in wenatchee.:(

Here is proof that I actually have a reef tank

Those pictures are fake. It's all a ruse. I don't believe it. Gimme your 125.:D Ahaaahaaaa! Sorry, couldn't help myself. Looks good. The first pic seems pixely for some reason though. Oh, and the last pic certainly doesn't prove that you have a reef. Does look nice though!:D

    best lighting for 125g?

Hey, been planning a 125 upgrade myself, lighting is going to depend on what you want to keep of course, but I've heard anything from 3x 150 to 3 x 250 will work. If you're going to use 3x 250's and supplementation though, you might get too much light for some softies/lps depending on the...

    Zoos arrived not looking good

Look like some nice healthy zoanthids. Which lfs did you go to btw? One thing you might think about is leaving that yellow polyp rock on the sand, since as finn said, they will sting the crap out of everything, and they also tend to grow pretty quickly in certain conditions. If you want them to...

    Zoos arrived not looking good

Hey, just realized you're from Wenatchee! What's your setup? You're semi local to me, don't have many reefers (that I know of )in central washington.

    Zoos arrived not looking good

Mucho Reef is THE repository of zoanthid info, so anything he/she(don't remember if it's him or her) says to do, I'd do it. If his opinion is no dips due to stress, then I'd definitely follow it. If you don't believe me, just visit the rc zoa section and this -...

    Zoos arrived not looking good

I wouldn't go at it with a toothbrush myself, the added stress could do them harm. If you decide to, make sure it's a soft bristle and be real gentle. The concern about the mucus looking stuff is that it could be a bacterial mass. Do you have good flow going over them? If it comes back you might...

    Aluminum and crystallization

I'd take the aluminum out of the tank asap! Stick with something plastic. The aluminum will break down and poison your tank. How long has it been in there? If it were me I'd be doing a few water changes and might look into running something that would remove metals.
