I noticed my PH probe for my tank water was reading 8.6 so I checked my other perameters.

My salintity is 1.024
PH 8.6
Cal 475
dKH 17

I know these are high but why? Why would they sneak up so quick and should I lower them? And how?

I should add, its an SPS tank with a Koralin 1502 reactor.

Thanks
Brett

When was the last time your probe was calibrated? If you're concerned about the alk/calcium levels, just don't run your reactor for a bit and let them come down on their own. PH should come down with it.

The calcium level isn't bad, but the alk is definitely high.

Most pH's that are that far out of range are due to a calibration issue. As everyone else stated, you should recalibrate it.

As far as your dKH is concerned, you can do as mmkeeper suggested, or just wait for it to come down on its own. Just keep your Ca in balance with it to prevent any precipitation of Alk.
