HELP! Please! My First Sick Fish, What Should I Do?

the flows about the same and the lighting is the same. the LFS may have had the lights out more, because they were sometimes acclimating other fish new fish in the tank. But both were standard flourescent bulbs. I really dont' know what treatments to move slowly on. I have no idea what I...

HELP! Please! My First Sick Fish, What Should I Do?

Ok Thanks, I never thought about the salinity of the water change, but like I said the water change didn't occur until last night. He was doing great for over a week. I did acclimate him very slowly. My tank has been up for 3 or 4 months and I've had fish in it for 2 or 3 months. I did have...

HELP! Please! My First Sick Fish, What Should I Do?

Ok, my Harlequin Tusk is about a week old. I got him from the LFS, he is extremely peaceful, leaving all of my fish and snails and crabs alone. He was eating great at the LFS and also at my house even minutes after finally making it into my tank. I noticed a few spots on the...

Green crystals of film on my live substrate

Yes the tank is young, it's about 3 months old. The rock in the picture is dead rock that I added when I moved the tank. It has live rock on top of it. It has completely cycled, and I just recently added some fish so maybe that's what casued the outbreak. Is this stuff bad, or just part...

Green crystals of film on my live substrate

I never saw anything that looked... like bubbles or the pictures of bubble algae I've been able to find on the net. Will a Harlequin Tusk eat an Emerald Crab?

    Algae or not?

I had that bad on my LR too MY tank was only a few months old and I probably was leaving the light on too long every day. I didnt' have anything but my cycle fish in so I added mini blue legged hermit crabs but they couldn't help much, so I added 6 snails, 3 different species and now 75% of my...

Ideas needed for other fish to put in my tank.

Thanks alot guys for the info... I personally look forward to doing water changes as well as testing my water. It truly has become my hobby. I also understand not to mess with it every day, and there is no such thing as a quick fix. I check on my fish, temp, look for signs of algae breakout...

    Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus)

Thanks alot guys. It's nice to be here and it's nice to be able to relax a little about my LM Blennie. They are one of the cutest little fish for a tank, I wish mine wouldn't hide so much. I had hopes he would be hopping from rock to rock. My own aquarium dog.

Ideas needed for other fish to put in my tank.

How often do you owners of 55 gallon tanks change your water? I have two coworkers who have had saltwater for years now. They are really the only people I personally know who are into the saltwater hobby. Both have 55 gallon tanks. One had 12 fish and the other had 10 fish in his reef tank...

Ideas needed for other fish to put in my tank.

What's the limit? Not that they're ever right but LFS said 1" per gallon. That sounds like a lot of fish, but I still only have around 6-7 inches of fish. I did miss judge my fish sizes. The 2 clowns are only 1" and the Chromys' are around 1/2" and the LM Blennie is 2"

Ideas needed for other fish to put in my tank.

Ok, I've got a 55 gallon tank w/ wet/dry (I wish I had DSB ) with around 50 lbs of LR. I've got some snails and electric blue hermit crabs. I've got one Mollie who I couldnt' catch from my cycle crew, 5 small green/blue chromis', 2 small clown fish, and 1 3" LM Blennie. I'm adding a 2" Coral...

    Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus)

My Blennie is the most shy fish I've met He's a Lawnmower Blennie and he was shy at the LFS. He was one of my first fish to buy, so next time I'll know not to buy the shy ones. I bought him because he was bigger than the other they had. He just stays in his cave, or in the back behind a rock.
