I have a crushed coral bottom and I have this green stuff on a few parts of the tank, I even have some on a piece of dead rock I seeded on top of the CC with LR stacked on top.

My guess is you had some Bubble algae that burst into your tank. I have the same thing. I cleaned my glass and bought a emerald crab and put a poly filter in to catch as much as possible. My problem is going away pretty fast.
That is what it looks like to me in my oppinion.
good luck,
Ed

I never saw anything that looked...

like bubbles or the pictures of bubble algae I've been able to find on the net.

Will a Harlequin Tusk eat an Emerald Crab?

its about 3 months old

it's in the kitchen 3 feet from a sliding door, but it has blinds.

Does this help? I was told by a friend today it is just corraline algae like what grows on the LR.

I saw the same kind of stuff on the bottom of the tanks at the local Petco the other day. I had never seen anything like it before. It looks like green cyanobacteria. Very strange stuff.

I would probable say NTS or sunlight. Did your tank actually cycle. What size, How much LR and DR. Live substrate?
I used to get some pretty grass green like that in my first sterile FO tank. Unless its just the pic your rock looks awful clean/dead.

Don

that crap on your sand is definately green cyno, I cant really see anything on your rocks tho.

Yup, Cyano.

One of the many nuisance algaes that visit us from time to time. Especially in newer tanks.....

Yes the tank is young,

it's about 3 months old. The rock in the picture is dead rock that I added when I moved the tank. It has live rock on top of it. It has completely cycled, and I just recently added some fish so maybe that's what casued the outbreak.

Is this stuff bad, or just part of maturing the tank?

Is there anything I should do, or just vacuum it up when I do my next water change and leave the lights off some?
