1250 gallon tank lighting???

I personally would not go wider than 5'. I am short and can reach at max into 2.5' of the tank. If you can get to both sides, then you might be OK at 5'. Even with longer arms, it is not the reaching across the top that is difficult, but the reaching to the bottom and across in a 45 degree angle. Even at 5' it would difficult, but more manageable IF you can reach from both sides. You could use only the middle 4" for aquascaping and leave 6" in front and behind open for stuff to grow out. At 5' wide, you might (big might) get away with one row of lights instead. Definately will if you go with 1000 watt halides instead.

which reactor? Kalk, Ca, or media? I really like all three anyway. Would not go with anything else.

well im going to get a kalk and calcium from him...he suggested a dual chamber for the calcium...why did you go so tall on yours?

I find dual chambers to be a waste of a second chamber. It really does very little if anything at all for you. The bigger the chamber, the more efficient the reactor assuming a bottom up flow. The more media you ahve exposed to the same pH water, the more Ca and alk you release. It will take the smae amount of CO2 to mantain that pH if not much less.

I had a dual chamber 6" diameter and 18" tall chambers. I switched to ths reactor and with the same effluent rate and effluent pH, I had to cut down my CO2 bubbles to 1/3 of what it was before.

with a tank this size I sure hope all perameters of flow, water evaporation a sub cooling tank and adequate skimming are all taken into perspective. Just remember the larger the body of water the more stable but, also if things go out of whack the harder and longer the recovery. I will say I would to hear and see what this tank and supporting system is going to look like. good luck

im sure theres more but its late...lol

Just an opinion, so take it for what it is worth.

-Get rid of the MRC skimmer. For the price, electrical consuption and heat production, and the noise, you could get a much more efficient unit. Look into Deltec or H&S. You will not be sorry. If you still want it, talk to Bob Goode here since he had one before he bought his Deltec. He might still have it and will likely pay you to take it LOL..................
-Ocean motions seem to work as advertised. However, because of their design, they require too much plumbing for my taste. I would seriously look into multiple Tunze Stream 6200.
-Buying 2 RO/DI units is a waste. Jsut get one and add a booster pump to it.
-Chiller will ahve to be a huge beast to take care of the heat and there will be tons there.

The Lumenarcs are great pendants, and light a 2x2 area really well. The new 400w DE pendants are said to light a 3x2 area.

1000w in the Lumenarcs is awesome - Check with Carlos at Xtremeaquatics.com - He uses 1000w Helios 20k with the Lumenarcs - And his tank looks great.

I just finished the trim on my big tank...the wood work is unbelievable. As is the rest of the set-up.
