Hi all. Just joined the forum and wanted to say hello. Here are some pics of my work in progress. It's been going for a year, but I took last summer off for other hobbies and didn't make much progress May-November. :) Starting to fill out on the corals, but no coralline algae yet. :(

I have a 150 gallon corner pentagon. Equipment list...

150 gallon corner pentagon
40B sump Refugium--> Return <--Skimmer
Tunze Silence return pump
4x 1600 gph JBJ Oceanstream PH
Marineland 300 Skimmer
Apex controller (just installed it today!)
DIY T5HO (6 bulb)
DIY LED (36" Steve's LED)

That is a really nice looking tank. I see Saltwater won out over the cichlids! lol!

Yeah, I definitely caught the bug. I love the corals. My wife and kids want every angel, trigger, and other non reef safe fish they see. :) It's been a huge learning curve, but getting there. I hope to have a few more key pieces purchased and placed in the next 6-8 weeks so I can let it fill in over the summer.

Nice tank.
Dont see to many that shape and size. I like it.
You know you could set up a Fish Only tank for the kids and the Mrs.
But make sure it is in the 300 gal range, so when you run out of space to place corals in the 150 you have a plan B already up and running!

I really like that tank. I've never seen one like it. Looks like it has alot of open area. O and Welcome to the Addiction.....LOL. I also started with fresh water , but I had Oscars and Dempseys.

LoL! I like the way you think, and I already have the perfect spot picked out for it!

BTW, do you have any extra room at your place? I made need a place to stay when the divorce comes. :p

Thank you much.

It does make a great coral tank IMO because of the depth (over 32" from back corner to front glass) and possibilities for aquascaping. However, if I could do it over again, I'd have a fish room through a wall. The shape makes working on a sump under it pretty difficult.

When it comes to fish, the 150 gallon number is misleading. It's only 4 feet long on each side, so the fish are always kind of schooled up in the middle. They can't get to opposite ends of a 7 foot tank to get away from each other. So, I stock it more like a 75-90 gallon tank when it comes to fish.

Welcome to the site. Really like the looks of the tank. As for the coraline. My tank jas been up for nearing a year, i dont have much growing either. I dont worry bout it, nature will do its thing when shes ready.

Awesome setup!!! Fungias are one of my favorites too :) Along with the Purple Duncan's. You've got great tastes in corals :)

LoL! Well, I had some great coaching on coral selection. ;)

BTW, I'm going to need suggestions in the next week or so. I'll post some updated photos sometime later this week...

Thanks for the welcome!

I agree on the coralline, but I'm getting impatient. :) I'm starting to see some on PH's and snail shells, but not much on the rocks yet.

Once you start seeing it on whatever it'll pick up quick. Some people will even get scrapings of coralline from other tanks to seed their own :)

St. Patrick's Day Update

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Some new additions and a few growth shots. The tank is starting to fill in, and I'm about done with it for the summer. Mountain biking takes over my time, so it will be a good time for my hands to stay out of the tank (other than routine maintenance) and let it fill in.

Acan Garden

My Mustard Yellow Acans that are colored a nice Baby S**t Brown so far... :)

A couple of Rainbow Acans that haven't quite colored up yet. Was told that I might have too much light, so I will play with that in the next few weeks.

Euphyllia Ridge
This was taken straight on at a mid tank heighth. I should have been a little more top down to give a better view of the flow of the ridge. Should be nice when it fills in.

And the Bi-color "Frorch". Has tips like a frogspawn, but the head and tentacles remind me of a torch. :)

Great looking tank. I like your acan garden the most and think its hilarious that your done with the tank for the summer for Mountain biking. You're not the only one. Its about time to get camping season started up and then follow it up with salmon fishing season.

Thanks. I tried a few different zoas and couldn't get any of them to go, so decided to try an acan garden instead. It'll be perfect if I can get them to color up a bit.

Yeah, I need to give my addictions a break otherwise I burn out on them. So, my summers are spent outside on the bike and winters are tank time. :)
