150w to 250w question

i have a 150w metal halide fixture.

i want a 250w. can i just change the ballast to a 250w? would that work?

The 150w and 250w bulbs are different sizes.

The 250watt bulbs measure longer than the 150 watt bulbs so they wouldn't fit in the sockets.

That fixture isn't designed for that, even if you hacked it, the ability to deal with the extra heat would ruin it. E-bay it & purchase a 250w fixture, what size tank is this for?

I have to go with scooterman on this one. The 250 watt bulbs are a different size and the ballasts were not designed to handle a 250 watt bulb.

like scooterman said get rid of it and buy the right lighting you don't want to be hacking up a good fixture and risk destroying it when you can sell it to help pay for a new one.

speaking of ebay have a look on there thats where I got my lighting from and its working nicely.

You will need 250w DE Socket and a 250w bulb. 150w parts not interchangeable with 250w.
