2 or 3 firefish

I purchased 2 firefish from my LFS and one died the next day sadly. The 2 were really happy with each other and hung out for that one day. I went back to the fish store and told him what happened and he said they are finicky and they don't like to be moved and he wasn't suprised. He said it's good to get 3 of them because sometimes 2 will fight.

Is he full of crap. I am getting fed up with the LFS and I am going to order another firefish online but I am wondering if I should order 1 or 2 more? Since they are not from the same tank do you think the new ones will get along with my current one?

I've had very bad luck losing them right after purchase, even drip acclimating etc... I only had 3 of 9 survive after 5 days. However, the 3 remaining have never fought. They get along great with my seahorses, even at feeding time. Now, a year later, two of the firefish are starting to hang out together separate from the third.

Yeah, I acclimated them for an hour in the dark slowly. Adding my tank water every 10 minutes to the bag.

I have had two in my tank for a long time with out any problems. They set up shop in a section of the tank and spend most of thier time ther together. I would stick with the two.
