ok hey Dr. Lee how ya been long time no talk to last time I was on here I think u had just got out of the hospital for some kind of infecction

I hope all is well now

If so is there any way you can tell me if logically a light maroon clown with dark tip fins will pair up with a smaller but different looking maroon that's darker in color and white stripes seem to go all the way around unlike the bigger maroon clown with a very light maroon color and dark tips on the edge of the fin

I'm sure pictures would help and I will have some soon but the story behind the maroon is I didn't get them at the same time. I got the smaller one first and the bigger lighter one second. The bigger one seems to be pretty ruff with the smaller one with a strike every once and a while buy dosent constantly chase it. The smaller one dosent vibrate it's belly up like percs do when showing submission

They are currently in a 125 go and the first maroon was in there by it's self for about a week with other less aggresive but much larger tank mates

I'm also wanting to get an anemone for this tank that the maroons will host hopefully I was wondering if 2 VHO 6 foot bulbs that are 160 watts a piece I believe would be ok for a anemone I have a halide on the tank but don't like to use it ALOT but for company on my FO tank

What kind of anemones do maroons usually like and host??

And yes believe me I know there are no gurantees on the hosting cause I have two percs in my reef tank that won't pay any attention to my gbta at all

They look at it and laugh but my big perc is a little big for it I guess

Thanks ahead of time

Back online and fit, thank you.

Two Maroon Anemonefish are able to mate regardless of their markings. The two fish must be adults and with a size difference of no less than 1.5" with a preferred difference of over 2".

I'm not the one to ask about hosting. I am not that familiar with invertebrates. Although the Maroon does host in some Anemones that will not live well in a captive environment, I don't know the Anemones that are easy or can be kept in the aquarium. You are correct in taking note that concerns about lighting may be important, depending upon the type of Anemone you choose.

:)

Trillyen - I have some more reading material for you. You're going to be busy with all this homework I've been giving you

From what I've found, the maroon clown hosts in a BTA. This article shows a gold stripe maroon in its natural host the Entacamaea quadricolor Time to Quit Clowning Around: The Subfamily Amphiprioninae. It also looks like they enjoy LTAs, as well. Clownfish and Anemone Compatibility

Here is some information on pairing Premnas clowns Pairing Premnas clowns. If you are interested in reading through the entire clownfish workshop, then you can click on the link found in the upper right hand corner of the above post.

Also, I want to encourage you to put some stronger lighting on the tank if you are considering an anemone. Your clowns do not need an anemone, so if you are reserved in running halides, or don't want to look into stronger lights, then don't feel like you have to get one.

Hey thanks dr. Lee and NaH20 that helps alot, and I'm glad tovhesr all is well dr. Lee

Tea nah20 I do have halides already on the fo tank I just don't like to use them seeing as I already have 2 250 watts running on my reef tank I usually just run one on my reef tank though

Thanks for the read ms I lost my Joyce wilkerson book I bought from u guys and I'm lost without It

I'll need that stuff u gave me to read for later use definetly cause I ain't got the money right now to buy another book

Thanks I know they don't NEED. An anemone but my mom and my girlfriend thinks it looks solo cool in them

So vho's wouldn't be enough for a less light demanding anemone???
Thanks guys!!!
