ok i thought my scolymia is just unusual or deformed but when i look at it lights off and shrunken i notice theres like 2 small mouth...actually its like 2 heads....i can actually cut it in half and no harm done..heres pics...i just thought they are solitary...

they are in the same skeleton but they can be frag in two though im scared to do it...i thought they are solitary...so they reproduce or bud?or it splits?

Is it flat like a pancake? It almost looks like it could be a lobophilia to me. In the fisrts pic, it looks like closer to three mouths to me.

i won it at aquatic auction as elephant ear scolymia..i can only see 2 mouths though im gonna double check if theres third...:)though the looks of it it is an scolymia...just a weird looking one:p

ok so it says that scolymias can occassionally be polycentric (having more than one mouth).........sooooo i can frag it to 3 because it has 3 mouth yay:D

luisse,

there is an article about fragging scolys in this month's issue of Reef Hobbyist Magazine.
I got mine at BRA and they are FREE.

I just purchased a bleeding apple scoly from AquaticAuction and love it...

update....

sooo i finally get to see the scoly open to feed...it is scary...thought something happened to it...i grab my cam and took pics...it has multiple mouths....????

i personally wouldnt cut this coral for atleast 6 months to a year to watch the growth pattern expand i have seen alot of nice scolys (living, collecting in aust) i have heard a collector had found mulitple head scolys but only time will tell it dose loom kinda like a lobo and i have seen them that orange/gray colour dose your have a bit of green to?

no theres no green on it...color is gray and pinkish red...and i bought it as scolymia..just a weird looking one:)i do have a lobo too and i already compared it and this one have a different structure than the lobo..
