Don't have tips but....I think it's gonna be a awesome build thread!

Hello Mr D
240 sounds like a good number,
At least to me, thats what i have in my head all the time lol
And if you need any help to move let us know
Carlos

No tank. I'll need a stand and reinforce floor 1st. I wanna combine my two sumps as well for this one dt.... I'm thinkin 260 or 280g seedless. Glass. I'll need two 48" led lights. Hood/canopy. Skin for the steel stand.... Idk... Prob another 55g drum.

Thoughts on a tank with no stand and sitting on the ground? The tank would have to be 4-6ft tall on all sides than... No room for sump or electric... I really like the drop off tanks.
D

I know a guy that can do the stand part. Maybe even beef up the floor. I also know another guy who has a 310, 3/4'' Acrylic he would be willing to make a hellofa deal on. He told me he would even let the steel stand go for dirt cheap.
Just thought I would throw that out there for ya.
I'll let him know you are in the hunt for an upgrade.

Let me know if you need any help whenever, Devin. I will help anyway I can, especially supervisory role. I'm good at telling people what to do, LOL. Let me know.

thanks everyone. looks like ill have to have a reefing party or something when i get this all going. I could deff use the supervision lol.
so no thoughts on a tank that sits on the ground with sump next to it...? i want a nice electrical panel this time round. On RC a 48x48x48 cube is 480g or so... :)

Even if it were really tall, I would think you would want some sort of stand, even if it is a short one.
If it were on the floor, it would make viewing anything on the bottom of the tank hard to do.

Yeah, I think a tank on the floor would make viewing hard. It would kind of be neat for top down viewing, but Marty is right, the things on the bottom would be hard to see. Also I would worry about light penetration on that tall of a tank. I'm not saying it can't be done, but lights to penetrate that deep would be expensive. I have never seen a tank that tall in a home aquarium and might be kind of cool. Let me know when you get around to do this, it would be fun, especially if pizza is involved. LOL

I've heard that 310, is suppose to be a awesome tank

I am hear to tell ya IT IS!!! LOL

You would have a very difficult time maintaining a 48'' tall tank.
But I like the idea of having a tank sitting on or near the floor. Maybe a short short stand . something like 18'' tall. You need to be careful with a tank that low to the ground with little ones running around. They might like to throw things in it or even try to go for a swim!!

k ive decided on a 5'x5'x24" DT!
LOL 1st things 1st.
floor and stand need to be in place for this.

Where are you going to put it? That will really be nice. I guess when it is all said and done I will need to venture down to P-town.
