Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Looks good. Maybe just switch up the branching in the back left. But i like it alot, just ocd lol

welp,
got the tunze 6045, so now the tank has 1,200gph of flow in it for 60x!!
also got the new t5 bulbs, so I'm currently running
2 giesmann actinic+
1 ATI pro color
1 giessemann pure actinic

the 12w ecoxotic panorama blue LED comes on thursday,
and the weipro 20w LED comes in about 2 weeks.

still playing with the rockwerk to accomodate the high flow and still have sand on the ground. but at least you cant see any equipment,
the drain on the left and tunze 6045 cant be seen from the front (black bulkhead and black krylon painted plumbing parts).
here's a diagram of the external durso overflow I went with, dead quiet, and elegant looking in the tank, ...I hate busy plumbing. I actually put a black elbow in the tank instead of the intake strainer shown;

this pic is just the ATI procolor and giesemann pure actinic:

this one is the pro color, pure actinic, and 2 actinic+, it's more purple/pink than this IRL, but the blue washes the pic out:

My opinion is your doing it all wrong and i think once you have purchased the
leds you probably should just bring it to my house :D JK thats really nice mark . What are you mostly gonna be keeping in this ?

thanks man!
this tank is going to be rics, mini carpets, palys/zoas, acans, favias, and a few of my favorite montis.

I have no clue what I'll do for fish...
maybe a single neon pseudochromis,
maybe a few "nano" gobys (mexican red head, green line, yasha, etc)
maybe a couple pipe fish...
maybe a mcosker's wrasse or a bleeding heart leopard wrasse...
was thinking about just getting a peacock mantis too...

hell even a couple orange tailed fiji damsels would be nice...lol

I'm not super big on fish in such a small tank, and want whomever I pick to just be happy in 20g more than anything...

also, I raised the water level in the tank 1/2" from the top, looks "fuller",
and a shot of the sump in working order:
tank038.jpg

been thinking about it, but I dont think I'm going to need it.
I might still just do a SWC 160 cone, so I can feed the hell out of the tank and dose alot of aminos. :) the 120 cone does 300lph, and the 160 cone does 700lph. so It's a tough choice.
the mesh modded euro-reef I have on there now is pulling about 400-500lph of air, which is great, overkill for a 20g, I know, but I really must have a cone skimmer w/bp...

here's a pic of just the ecoxotic panorama LED fixture, 12 1watt LED's @ 460 nanometers blue.
I think this will make an excellent dawn/dusk and overall actinic light for my other weipro L60 (20 1 watt LED's) fixture coming... :)
so after I get both fixtures on the tank, there will be a grand total of 32watts, all 1 watt LED's

mkay, first signs of algae are finally starting to appear, ...you cant have a healthy reef without bacteria and algae as the building blocks.

and my weipro L-60 LED fixture has left customs in san francisco so it should be up here in a couple days. considering that it will be like adding almost twice as much light as i have on there now, im still amazed that I will only be using 32 watts. the tank has been illuminated by the 12w blue panorama I have mounted in my t5 fixture where the t5's would normally be. as you see from the above pic, it's ana wesome amount of light for 12watts.

also, I have decided to choose the SWC 120 cone skimmer instead of the 160 cone, 300lph for 30g total, that's 100lph air injection for every 10g, so I think I'm good. :) will be ordering that in a day or 2.

so pretty soon I will be looking to add a fish, and a few zoas, and rics to start, before i dive head first into acans, favias, and chalices...lol
and will be selling the euro-reef rs-100, new t5 bulbs and fixture, and 2 koralia 1's for cheap.

Sweet looking start to a cool tank. Look forward to seeing how it comes along.

Cheers,
Alex

well, I got the LED fixture today, I cant believe it made it here from china in 4 days!!! wow...
so I'm totally impressed considering this is $130 shipped, my tank looks like it has a MH on it,
and it's only 32w total between the weipro 20w and the blue panorama 12w!!!
im still building a fixture for both of these to go into. the weipro is so damn bad ass looking too, I'll shoot some more pics of just the fixture later...

here's a couple more shots of the fixture and the tank with just the 20w weipro on it...
who would have thought that weipro would make something worth a damn...lol

also, I gotta give a shout out to reefshops.com for getting this light an american power supply from the factory (5-6 days) and getting it shipped to me in about 4 days, I've been very impressed with their customer service, multiple email notifications, ability to answer all my questions, and conveinent tracking...a very good company to import small amounts of reef gear from china/hong kong!!

that looks pretty sweet man. Are you worried at all about build quality/lifespan/replacement parts?

Damn, $100 for that fixture is a good price indeed. *lol* Aren't those ecoxotic panorama blue LED running about the same price? Of course that is only an add on right? Dunno.

Looking awesome thus far. Love how the lighting looks.

thanks!
...yep, the panorama was the same price.
and it's cool and all, but for the money, these are way better....
I'm contacting the manufacturer to see if they will make make a couple modified ones... they make fixures upon request if you are willing to wait a few weeks for them to be made as well. I may or may not do that, I might cough up for an AI fixture, or just wait it out until summer, when i know new LED's will be comin out.
weipro also have a 40w and 140w led array for cheap that im eying as well.

Well for their prices they seem to be good. I didn't know that they would be willing to customize an LED for people, that would be sweet.

Cheers,
Alex

Do you have to specify when you order to get it as 110v for america? I am doing a 10g tank and was thinking the c50 fixture. What do you think?

well, first off I would suggest you get the L series, not the C series, and yes make sure you specify in the "notes" field when ordering that you need a 110v power supply.

here's my latest rockwerk, and my 2 led's ziptied together ghetto style until I build an aluminum fixture for them.
getting close to being able to put some corals in...just need some elos aminos and prodibio bacteria first...
and my SWC 120 cone skimmer should be shipping out in a day or 2
