Happy New Year fellow reefers!

For those of you who followed my previous thread titled, "Help with island tank design" it is found at http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14874

Here I will present the installation phase of the project. I started this project last April and have been taking my time, saving my money (lots), and reading and learning all I could about reef tanks.

First I must thank Jason at Clear Fabrications (a forum sponsor) for all of his knowledge he has imparted on me, not to mention the world class aquarium he designed and built for me.

Some details of the tank and then lots of pictures. It is 3/4in all polycast acrylic tank with center overflow and located for four sided viewing. Dimensions are 54in by 36in by 30in. It is designed with a sump directly under the tank inside the stand. There is one main pump for sump/filtration and four additional pumps for the closed loops. For details of the stand and canopy please visit my link above.

I think when I last posted to the forum... somewhat out of frustration a few months ago showed off my beautiful home built solid mahogany stand posing as a plant stand and cat house!

Well, things have been happening quite fast over the past week. I have pulled a few close to all nighters setting this bad boy up so enjoy the photos and feel free to comment and ask questions!

Here Jason and I are loading the tank into my truck at Clear Fabrications... Jason has a very nice shop and I very much enjoyed the design and build phase and especially working with him. I finally get to bring it home... it is pretty darn heavy. I can't imagine a glass version.

Here we are positioning the tank on the stand. I think pulled something!

Okay, we didn't waste anytime and got busy drilling the tank and stand for the CL bulkheads. 12 holes in all for the four intakes and eight returns.

Well guess who got the bottom on the drilling job?

Okay, the drilling is complete and the bulkheads are all installed. We also installed the bulkheads inside the overflow for the main returns, drains, and electrical conduit.

Here is one of the many trick details that Jason and I came up with... these are the CL intake tees. I since painted the sched 40 black to help hide them.

Here is a view from underneath the tank showing the CL intake valves and the overflow box bulkheads.

Thanks Dang... I will indeed. This is exciting. I have been staying up way too late trying to get it going. I still want to come over to see your new set up.

Looks great man!! Unreal! Looks like all your research and patience will pay off. Congrats and I look forward to seeing everything else come together:)

Hey Krish... I was wondering how long it would take to hear from you.. not long as per usual! Thanks for the kind reply. I have lots of pics to share. It is now snowing again here in Redmond, WA. This just a day after surviving another mini windstorm yesterday!

ROFL!! Once it's not 7:50 fully stocked with fish:p

Yes, still alot of plumbing to do. I have to locate and plumb all of the pumps under the crawl space to make this as quiet as possible. Since this is in our living/TV room it needs to be super quiet... per my better half.
