Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what is a good MH bulb for the long run. I have a 50g tank and thinking about putting in a new MH bulb. I currently have only 2x55 (50/50) PCs. In the future, I plan to try to keep some clams. I was debating between the Ushios 10K, XM 10K and XM 20K. I like the blue hue produced by the 20K bulb. Will this be a problem for more light intensive creatures in the future?

Thanks,
Gary

Gary,
Have you checked the 14K hamilton or 15K coralvue? I am using both. I like the blue too. I have two clams and wanting more. I thought I would throw another option in there for you?
good luck,
Ed

I personally would only go with the 20k if you are willing to step up to 400 watt. The PAR values of the 250 watt 20ks are just insufficient in my opinion.

The 250 watt Ushios and the XM 10k would be fine as their PAR values are much much higher. You could always keep your PCs as Actintic suplements. The XMs do have a bit more PAR value than the Ushios but I like the look of the Ushios better.

All in my opinion of course!
