Unfortunately not much progress has been made in the past several weeks. I'll get so
Unfortunately not much progress has been made in the past several weeks. I'll get some work done possibly today and tomorrow and post some updates if they are worthy.
I worked on the plumbing some more today. Here is an updated pic... I now need to drill for and complete a spraybar, and finish the 4 outputs obove the tank and I will be ready for a water test. I am still determining how I plan to plumb the return.. Probably not going to be anything fancy.
Hey Jlehigh, Glad to see the progress. Just a question. Maybe I'm missing something. Which is entirely possible. Are you going to put any unions comming off your CL pump? Seems it might be helpful for maintence. Keep up the good work. Hey also where did ya get the toggle switch electrical board? Looks like a great idea to be able to turn off individual devices without unplugging.

szidls: There are unions provided with the pump that are on the input and output of the pump. It is hard to tell since they color match the pump. If I am wrong on that I'll be cutting some pipe...
I should be able to close the ball valves and unscrew the blk unions to work on the pump.
Sorry I missed your switch question! I purchased them at a Guitar Center. Pretty much anywhere that sells sounds equipment should have them. I think Music DJ's use them for various pieces of equip. I believe they are only about 35 bucks each..
Your telling me!!! Ask and you shall recieve master of all that has reef mojo
I finally was able to put the tank ahead on the priority list and finished the bulk of the plumbing today!!! WHOOOHOOOO!!!! I am a very happy lil reefer! The water leak test went quite well with two very minor leaks I will fix shortly.
I took a movie of the ocean's motions wavemaker in action though I am still working on setting up a site to host it. So here are some new pics for now:
Here is the movie.
Note: I have the tank only partially filled so you can see some of the outlets at work better, however there are still a few invisible in the movie including the spraybar..
All in all there are 14 outlets going through the 8-way OceansMotions, two on the right side, 4 on the back, 2 on the left side, 4 above the tank, and two 1" outlets feeding the spraybar.
When you do the final filling of the tank is it going to be any fuller than that? Also, is there much splashing above the tank since the outlets are spraying into it from above?
thanks Eliyah: Yea the tank is only partially full so people can see the outputs at work a bit better. All outlets will be completely submerged for the final saltwater fill and there will not be any splash.
Looking great, 280 or 240 is about the size I want to go with on my next tank, so this can be a good learning experience for me, except I plan on using Glass, so drilling all the hoes will be up to me & my wallet if I mess up lol.
Last night a spent about an hour and a half with the help of my cousin aquascaping and another 30 min tonight doing some fine tuning. I thought I would share the first pass and also sneak one shot of my 46gal in
