Kinda forgot....

How much flow can a 3" or a 4" bulkhead handle? Anyone know?
Thanks

The drain calculator on RC:

Using the following input parameters
Gallons per Hour = 5500

Drain and Overflow sizes are calculated as
Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 3.06 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 83 inches

is this right? this is from RC

Calculators->Drain Size Calculator

Using the following input parameters
Gallons per Hour = 8400

Drain and Overflow sizes are calculated as
Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 3.79 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 127 inches

im linking three sumps together and the water will flow through them at 8400gph. I need to plumb them together with bulkheads.

an easy way to test would be to plumb sumps and loop the pump back into the first sump tank.. I know I use a 1 1/2 bulkhead for my over flow with approx 2500 gph flow down it and it is not maxed out my over flow box is 24x4x6 inches I would assume 3 inches for a non preasure flow through would be pushing it the last tank my run down and leave the pump dry.... that being said in you situation I would go big big big as you can I think you already get that concept but anyway an under calculation could be a disaster a big one in your case and I think 4 inches would be plenty

its a 1300 gallon system

I've seen many larger & no where near that much flow through sumps, you push flow on separate systems typically, just isn't necessary through the sumps but hey that is cool because there are no rules & you may have other needs going on unexplained.:cool:
