I feel ya there I should have upgraded my hood from the mh to the led jbj offers. But I started a 5.5 gallon nano for my wife, cause she wants dwarf seahorses. So I'm going to try and build a diy light for them. As soon as I can get a parts list of everything I need. My tank just it 1 month. And yours looks way cleaner than mine. I have this green turf algae that I'm trying to get rid of.

Does it sit by a window in the house? My 20 had algae pretty bad. Put a nice dark curtain infront of the window. And it looks way clearer now. Ima try to use that gravel vaccuum maybe tomorrow, see if i can get the junk off my pretty sand

Well I'm assuming its probably my sliding glass door. A lot of light comes from it. But I use that light to act as an adjustment from my moon lights to my mh.

Hmmm... I've heard real daylight is a no no.
I wanna see pics tonight with ur moonlights!!

Im going to encorperate moons and UVs into my led build. For that color pop.
As is now if i only have the antic on u can really see my pink pop... With the white on u cant tell they have pink unless u get so close ur eyes are almost wet :)
My t5s that is.

Where are you from maybe you could buy ur leds and ill build them for you, if u dont think ur up to it.
Or if that was you i was talking to earlier?? Im subscribed to lots of topics now :/

Yeah I don't have atinic lighting. It's a jbj 28 gal standard good. Just a 12k double ended mh 150w and 4 moon lights. I live in Vancouver wa. I'm trying to build an led fixture for my 5.5 dwarf seahorse tank. I eventually want to add a couple of sps

Seahorse tanks have to be very stable for them.
What are your dimensions for your 5 gal, definitly could fab something easy up. Wouldnt cost much in leds. Could probably get away with 12 leds

Yeah I think I've done more reseach on the seahorse tank then my man display. Lol. My dem. Are 18L x 8W x 10H my goal with it is to stimulate morning, noon, dusk, and night. I was thinking 3 cool white, 3 royal blue, 3 cyan, and 3 violet. With 50 degree optics, And over lap v with rb to simulate the dusk and cyan for morning, although I've read the cyan doesn't look much different then white, only the pur is diff. But I've never gotten anyone to explain or give me a parts list to make it possible. All my research just shows there finished product. Never what went into it.

Btw, just wanted to let you know that hitchhiker snail *is* a stomatella :) I have about 3 in my tanks, one of them had coraline algae completely over its shell! Pretty nifty little guys, and GREAT additions to the cleaner crew.

The tank looks great!!

Do some research on leds... I think i know what ima do for mine just havent figured out the drivers completly yet... Because uvs take 700 mah and blues take 1000 max and whites of course take 1300..
Thats 3 drivers plus a moonlight driver. So alot of space and wiring to deal with :/
