ok soo i dont know what to do...

should i buy a 24x24x16 custom acrylic with a corner overflow for $350 and have no money for more rock and etc. ...

or should i buy a 30g breeder. 30x18x13 with corner overflow and etc. for about $150 max or just $70 apx. for just tank no overflow no drill...and this way, i have 150$ left to buy 10-15# rock and more coral..

i am leaning towards the 30b. becuase its cheap and i like glass better.
whats your opinion???

and..

how much do overflows cost and how much is it to drill two 1" hole in glass cost??

so if the tank itself is 70-80$, how much would it cost me to drill and add overflow?? would $150 be enough??

btw, go guess on my other thread.

Tough to make the call for you... are you keeping the Nano going too? What is your plan for the new tank? I have to say I like the cube look but in this case it doesn't seem to justify the money.

okay so i am turning my 10g into a sump. haha and taking all rock and building the same structure on the left side of the tank and buying 15# more and building a slanted face on the other side. so its gonna be like an upside down v shape with huge cave (one i have right now) and a face (coast to coast shapeish) on the other side. ...its gonna be like a cuttout of a wall in the ocean. the plan is radd...hella tight. with the 30b that would work wonderfully. with the cube..iunno it'll be weird.

so im going with 30b.

and im going to have a light settup like Dang's display tank. ..(wood plank mounting a reflector and bulb with black cloth draped off the sides. its easy yet simple and nice.) its going to be a 250watt mh. ...

thus the tank is going to be a sps and clam tank. lotta light.....also, i'll prob buy a mag 5 for return and a seio for flowww....mmm flowww

so do you know how much an overflow costs?? and 2 drilled holes??

I can't say as far as the overflow...

Money aside, the cube shape though just makes it go from 2D to 3D!!! You can have a tunnel with three exits, one to the side? Just thinking out loud.

hmm..thats a good idea...

but the price is hella high. ='(

350 tank
100 powerheads
50 rock
so its like 500 total while the 30b is
150 tank
100 ph
40 rock
so thats less than the cube aquarium!!
and i got 100 dolla to buy another sweet fishhh

Somehow I get the feeling though you might wish you spent that $100 up front and was a little more patient on livestock. I may be wrong... again your call. Bigger is more stable too.

lol yea true true....but the 100 goes towards the 250watt mh im buying this weekend. ...90$ for a month old mag ballast, reflectors, mogul socket and 3 month old 10k bulb...

so its like this

30b tank
250watt mh
mag 5
seio
20# LR

is equal to

24x24x16 custom cube...

but yes the cube is 10g more.

I agree with what Mark said earlier. You may be cwazy but don’t be impatient! Step back and take a breath, what ever you do don’t buy on an impulse and wish you didn’t later on. 30gal tanks are pretty narrow, and I think cubes are pretty neat as well. Go for the deal on the lights and pump and just keep saving up for a nicer tank.

I vote for the cube, oh wait, wrong thread. The vote for the number is on the other thread. J/K...I would also say push the patience button and try to get the largest tank you can. It'll pay you back in time and especially with sps corals.

I use to have a 30gal and now I have a 40gal and I really like it. The added distance from front to back looks more appealing to me, as well as the additional surface area.

haole, what are you talking about????

30b and 40b has the same distance from front to back. both are 18"...only dif is that 40b is 6" longer and 4" taller...

so theres NO way im getting bigger than 30...im going 30b.

Oops, my bad! Somebody slap me!
Although mine wasn’t a 30 breeder so there was a big difference to me. I can understand with not wanting to go with a 40b.
