Hey all

I recently aquired a 35 gal (30 l x 12 w x 22 h) tank from a family member and it has been too long since my living room has been hit with that blue glow that I miss so much so I want to do something with it. I have never worked with a tank this tall so I am confused as to what will work better.

I like both ideas but I don't know if a predator tank will work with something this small and I know that I will not get many fish in a 35 at all.

I need some help here and know that you all can help me out.

Thanks again all

Too small for a predator tank; triggers and eels come to mind when you say 'predator', Unless your doing an invert predator tank like a mantis shrimp or something. I think you would be happier in the long run just doing a reef tank with smaller non(less)-aggressive fish.

Another thought on a predator tank, being such a small volume you may have water quality issues as predatory fish produce a lot more waste than your common community type fish. I'd go for the reef setup if it were me in this case. :)

Agreed. Tank is too small for predator tank, better suited for a reef tank.

All the above is good sound advice. BUT it could be done. A large large sump and alot of mait. If you dont want to be a slave to the tank go reef.

Very good point Peppie! It will only be a matter of which predatory fish you go with that can live just fine in a tank this size (physical space wise). Not very many options out there to talk about that really pricks a person's interest that are small enough for a tank this size. Usually, predatory fish people are interested in require much bigger tanks. :)
