Today is our anniversary.

Wow 36, thats a big number, I guess I am old.
I am also lucky to still be married to my childhood sweetheart.
We met when she was 11 and I dated her older cousin. My wife is 6 years younger than I am.
We are somehow still best friends and hang out together all the time.
I know this is rare now but it seems in my crowd of friends most of us are still married and being we all came from around the same neighborhood, we all have been friends for about 40 years, some a little more.
I even dated some of the girls in the crowd.

Congrat Paul, my wife and I will only be at 18 years next month.

Long time and good to see couple being responsible!

Congrats to you and yours once again.

You big player

Well my wife was just a baby, I had to date someone. I think she was 18 when I took this picture. Now of course she is only 21.
I had this picture on here a lot but I like it so humor me

The girls will appreciate this, but I just think it's lame. Every year, on our anniversary we have to drive into the parking lot of the place where we had the reception.
(lame) then the only thing I have left from my wedding night that fits are my socks, yes I have to wear my wedding socks tonight (lamer).
We also have to bring the champaign glasses that we still have from our reception to the restaurant and drink our wine from them (really lame)
But what do I know?

We still go to the place we first kissed just about every year. Living in this cold place makes it easy to go all the way back to california just for a smiple kiss.

lol lame but hey gets me out of the snow even if it just 24 hours!

Congrats Paul, what a feat! My sister just made 30yrs with her hubby, things like that is rare these days.

Speaking of anniversaries, last night I went to a very large wedding (just under 400 people) at the SeaPort in Manhattan.

But the wierd thing is that the couple got married in the same church that my 99 year old Mother was married and babtized in. Old Saint Patricks, She even went to the school. It is in Little Italy and celebrating it's 200th anniversary. I thought this is Ironic being I have never been to this church and now that my Mom is close to dying in the Hospital it just seemed like such a coincidence.

Here is the view outside the window of the reception place at the seaport. That is the Manhattan Bridge. Now this is a tourist and restaurant place but when I was a kid my Dad, who owned a fish market would bring me down here to pick up the fish for the store. The fishing boats would dock here at the pier and crane the fresh fish right onto the sidewalk and street where you see those cars under the FDR drive. They would shovel them up and dump them in wooden crates. I loved to play with the giant sea turtles that they used to sell to Asian Markets for soup. I am glad they don't do that anymore.

Paul,

I just found this thread I wish you and your sweetheart a Happy Anniversary. I am always encouraged and impressed by those whose stick it out together and stay married for the rest of theri lives. My Mom and Dad will be coming up on fifty years in a couple of years.

Julia and I got married later in life; 4 and half years ago when we were in our early fourties. Well, she was not forty yet. Its our first marriage and we are hoping to make it last for forty years or more.

Congratulations, and her's to 36 more years. :)

Gary and Julia

Congrats to you guys also. It is also obvoiusely our first marriage too unless my wife married someone else when she was 15 or so.

My Mom died yesterday, she would have been married for 65 years.
